𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 / 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 📚Kaisa Syrjänen’s @kaisasyrjaenen Tutkimus kauneuden politiikasta / Gaze Studies is an extensive, multi-year inquiry into the politics of beauty and appearance as social phenomena.

The book gathers an avalanche of archival material from earlier exhibitions, now offering a glimpse into Syrjänen’s background research in book form. Through this wast collection of images (the book is nearly 300 pages long), Syrjänen traces the demands, history, and ongoing presence of Western ideals of female beauty.

Perhaps fittingly, this extensive book is itself elegantly designed by @linneaari . It features, among other things, a folded dust jacket that doubles as a beauty-word index.
