You’re already showing daddy how to be okay with letting go
No matter how many charts I top or spins on the radio

I’ll still come back to see if you would show up for my show
Cause I perform for you, nobody else can get this flow

Nobody ever had the thoughts that you probably have
And honestly, I never thought I’d be proud to be a dad

But now I see that having pride is just something to count
Not the entire amount, the effort is what makes it count

Your smile competes with the whole world that was trying to take me
The miles for me, I take, to see you, is all that I’ll use to make me

Take one more step in the right direction, while following left
Then when I’m done, leave em all left, just to show you the right step

For Athena’s 1st birthday 🌹

You’re on your way now
365 days came round and made it count
Every single way that we doubted us, you made it out
Never delayed your emotions just to keep us around

Not even consciously choosing where you wanna be
Daddy can tell where you choose to be subconsciously
And cause I once handed out my caution for free
You helped me notice that I couldn’t just leave without fees

And if I can’t leave without fees applying to me
Then that means fees gotta apply to everyone around me
Whether emotional, social, someone is paying me
Because I paid in full every day with reality

Your first deposit of life is what they call birthday
But I’m the type to not even celebrate birthdays
Even your birthday to me is just another day
But it’s okay cause I value even the boring days

Consistency is the thing that people try to display
You do it naturally, and we did too when we made our place
In life’s race, there’s no second place, everybody’s first
That’s why I made sure i passed the baton to my girl

When I say girl, at the time, I’m talking bout your mommy
6 years of tryna find ourselves left us feeling lonely
We both assumed that the best way to live was thru and thru
When thru and thru kept neglecting everything we been thru

Constants and promises always comes after expectation
That’s why for years I didn’t lobby or buy a PlayStation
Wanted to make sure all my time went to shit worth investing
Until I learned making sure of time was just kinda extra

Time will supply the sides of life you need to stand on
Or go toward when that life you stand on was heading way wrong
I used to put all transgressions I had inside of new songs
Until I realized that waiting for listens was taking too long

So in this first year I had with you, I can never forget
Watching you grow up everyday was something no one can predict
No one’s prepared for parenthood the way they expect
That’s why I dropped all my expectations for who you’d be next

And hopefully when you turn two, you’ll understand my view
But if you don’t, I won’t ever let that turn it to proof
That anything that I did for you was just overdue
Because I only have time in life to show up for you

For Athe

25 years on earth.

It’s almost been a year.
Too many tears and fears that didn’t make it to next year.
Too many tiers and volunteers, can’t make it to the next gear.
Too many reels and not enough real, they passed up the moment.
Too many deals, not enough appeals, just to find some belonging.

Can’t even pop without the shit I attached to your name.
Sold out pointed foam fingers, they all outta blame.
Can’t even rework your own singles, just changing your name.
Your identity is based on being drafted in the game.

I stood 10, couldn’t pretend that this moment was everything.
I handled wins and losses, no battles could challenge within.
Foundation built on mental estates and tosses again.
So when I lob it off the backboard, I’m slamming it in.

You bitch ass niggas couldn’t spend just a day in my skin.
And fuck my shoes, can’t even fill up the size that I’m in.
I outgrew you and made part two just to watch with a grin.
While you equate the shit to nothing you never could win.

Could equate to anything that Athena has had.
Like not to mention, half yo offspring leaves without dad.
So many brothers and sisters, yet somehow you still mad.
With all these people round, the motion you had was slick sad.

I can’t feel bad, look what I got out the shit that you gave
I can’t be mad, look at the stats that I put on the page
Even yo stats couldn’t compare to shit built at your age.
That’s why Tey Bandz sold out his worth just to build you a grave.

I never should’ve had to explain the rules of the game.
That niggas said they understood with ink on the page.
I guess this time we gotta see who gon handle the sage.
Cause ain’t no more seasoning or seasons, I own what you made.

Don’t even want it, like you wanted to give up your name.
But you’ll still flaunt it like you realer than niggas bitch made.
Even the Glocks you like to flex at the top of your page.
Don’t even add up to the lot that you plot on your name.

Misusing charity resources to find where I stay.
And when you did you let me know I need to stay safe.
But even though I built the shit that you can call gay.
No one can say that what I built was just reasonable fate.

That shit took years, longer than anyone round me could fathom.

It’s still FUCK ANYBODY who speaks on my daughter like she has anything to do with your lack of locomotion and non existent local motion. 🤣

Let em guess when you’ll move, on your own time, while they worry about brightening their past with my daughter’s future. Whole time Wendy Williams retired cuz she got outdid by the peanut gallery 🤣🧊

They make lyrics for who? Men.
They make videos for who? Men.
They do shows for who? Men.
They use promo from who? Men.

Gotta lay down fore you make bed.
Gotta let some tears just shed.
Since we blue up and got green.
I had to leave some of yall on read.

Even though you refused to comprehend after reading.

9 months on earth with you and I’ve learned something boring.

Lately silent support has been louder than the loudest support
The largest resort just happens to be the main place to extort
The object of force was never something that could be ignored
Unless you pair that with divorce and delusion you hoard?

I’ll never stoop down to your level, I’ve played with the Devil
While God smiled in my face and still gave me an angel
That’s why when shit get sly, I don’t even search for the angle
Cause you still tied yo IP, securely, with boulders round ankles

Can’t withdraw from what you ain’t put into.

You stood 10 before anyone else could hang 10
I move spend just to secure the cribs you live in
You may spin but you’ll never have to for a ribbon
You’ll lose wins and win losses, but stay balanced within
You won’t confuse prayer for zen just because it’s what’s in
You won’t rely or depend on someone else’s wind to flow in
I’ll never pay the cost for other niggas who got lost on the floor you stand in
Because I made the plans to ensure my demands never depend on another man’s sin

You can finally say that everyone who put dirt on your name and mind, still ain’t managed to scrape a dime, let alone a cent; with not an inch of sense.

What daddy has learned since you’ve been teaching me the last 7 months?

After learning that all you need is presence and understanding?
I can’t be stressing over little shit you ain’t demanding..
I can’t keep pressing everybody to know where I’m standing..
I can’t keep taking off flight before I check the landing…

But I been landed so there ain’t nothing to check anymore…
I took the lock and the cameras and bars off every door..
Because I never needed anyone this much before…
You only get there when you’ve built your own life from the floor.

The ones who hate me still love me.
The ones who loved me still hate me.
And even though I paid everybody on time.
I still got hit with the late fee.

But now?
It’s too late for me to be upset about childish things.
Now?
I’m focused on more than clout, clouds, and petty things.
Now?
I need more than simple commitment and wedding rings.
Now?
Yeah. Now.
