I’ve grown to love the character that age can bring to a building.

Here’s a few materials added to my collection from the Mark Twain Tour of the American West. Anywhere from Eureka, NV to Virginia City, NV to Berkeley, CA to San Francisco there are some beautiful pieces of architecture! Can you name a few?

Honestly not the best images, but I wanted to share my final project! It's not easy fitting a long, narrow watercolor into an Instagram friendly frame and the images got blurry. If you want to see a better version you'll have to come visit 😆

So grateful for my mentors and peers @uvuarch , especially my professor Gordon Mackay! It was a brutal semester with too many sick weeks of death. But I made it through, got into the program, and have had enough distance that I'm excited to get started again this fall!

GRADUATED!!!! Jenny Hamby, School of Engineering, Bachelors of Architecture, Cum Laude, Honors

i have thought long and hard about what to write in this post for months now. This was the hardest 6 years of my life. I had to miss out on so much with family + friends it killed me inside, spent so many days without sleep and pushed myself in ways i didn’t know were possible! I am glad when I started I didn’t realize a bachelors of architecture was 6 years because i’m not sure i would have done it🙈 anyway, it’s just absolutely surreal to think i accomplished this and do not have to go back to school in the fall😭 I am so grateful to everyone who supported me (and had patience with me) along the way💓💓

I can’t wait to catch up on all i’ve missed the last 6 years!!

Liz Wolthuis, Architect (once I pass some exams)

I can’t begin to explain how much this program has meant to me; the opportunities I’ve gotten, the people I’ve met, and all I’ve learned. It’s been a life changing experience & I will forever love and admire my 20 best friends. Thank you UVU Architecture 🤍

The challenge was set. 🧑‍🍳

Four hours. No phones. No computers. Just skill.

Today, UVU architecture students competed in the Annual Esquisse Competition to design the future Wolverine Reflection Garden.

The results are coming…

Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s inferior. The Rio Grande Depot was built to be Salt Lake City’s train station and for the last 25 years it’s been waiting for a promise that hasn’t been kept.

Deep in city and state documentation is a policy to build an underground transportation corridor along 500 West. It’s time to make good on that promise and give life back to the building that helped build Utah!

Take a moment and write the members of the 2026 Interim Transportation Committee and ask them to properly study the Rio Grande Plan ahead of the 2027 General Session! Your voice matters and we need it now!
