Open the Vault October‼️ Drill Edition: Some drills from the archives we’ve put into practice at UWW! Rolling Continuous Turns: A great drill to reinforce hammer technique with intentional posture, consistent push, and patience to let the ball work around the body while it rolls on the ground! PVC Wrap Fulls: A drill from @average._joe that I love - a new spin on an old classic! The traditional bar/pipe on shoulders is great to teach long arms and level shoulders, but it can’t replicate the stretch and separation we want to feel with the actual discus. Create separation by pushing the PVC back and catch the power position with the same deep discus/PVC. More separation/stretch = deeper power position catches = longer time to accelerate the discus. Entry Mat Kicks: A drill with great physical stimulus reminding athletes to work patiently over their non-throwing side out of the back on the entry before actively working the legs and hips ahead to the middle! Kick the Bottle/Squash the Bug: A fundamental drill with countless variations - all about initiating the power throw with the feet and hips allowing a thrower to push the ground intentionally and pull the throwing side into the finish from bottom to top! A classic I grew up on! OH Press Powers: Working tall into our finishes! Nice work from each of our athletes here! Excited to keep moving forward in a strong way this fall! #Throws #ThrowFar #Discus #ShotPut #HammerThrow

WILLIE WORKS‼️🟣⚪️ Our September Point of Pride is none other than William Hodgins! Willie has put in an incredible amount of intentional, consistent work this summer to launch into a huge fall training block - we could not be more proud! Excited to see how this invested time and continued improvement pay off in huge throws and growth this coming year! It has already produced some unofficial PRs in summer competition! Well done, Willie! Keep pursuing more! #WarhawkThrows #ShotPut #Discus #HammerThrow #ThrowFar

‼️43.99m - 144’3”‼️ Sometimes you just have to jump in the ring. A beautiful Whitewater Saturday to join our local Masters throwers for a meet and it was an absolute blast! 3 Throws over 43m, a 2m Post-Collegiate PR, and my best competitive Discus day in 5 Years! It was awesome to feel good after not having thrown over 42m since 2021! Much more in the tank! Even my best wasn’t quite right! Excited to keep improving and honing in my own technique (who would’ve thought seeing the back of the circle would improve my finish?). Getting left, holding the left, and finishing tall were huge helps too! Until next time! #Throws #ThrowFar #Discus #WarhawkThrows #Throwing

🟣‼️Throwers 4x100m Relay - 4/25/26‼️⚪️ Today’s UWW Throws Open the Vault takes us back this this spring’s Drake Alternative - our final home meet of 2026! Now just one month away from fall classes at UW-Whitewater, it’s time to take a glance back at a riveting race between the men and women of UWW Throws! A wonderful job well done by our women (Jenna Wilkinson, Caitlin Zingsheim, Lou Matulenko, and Jeana Roscoe) and congratulations on a big win by the men (Landon Martin, Mason Baures, William Hodgins, and Peter Popp)! No shortage of fun, laughs, and great memories from this crew! Some steeple pit cooldown dives to cap off an awesome day as well! Please enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed the race! PUMPED to get back to work for the 2026-27 campaign in just a few short weeks in what is shaping up to be an incredible year for the Warhawks! Here we go, Hawks! 🟣⚪️ #Throws #ShotPut #Discus #Relay #Sprints

Good to be back competing after taking a week off following wisdom teeth surgery. Had a solid day at the Whitewater Summer Open #2, winning the discus with a throw of 166’. Shot put didn’t go the way I wanted after scratching all of my throws in prelims, but it’s all part of the process. Happy to be back throwing again and looking forward to getting back to work and continuing to improve.#discus #shotput
