🌴A different kind of club🍍A San Francisco party free of limitations in tempo, boundary and style. by @yanivderidder @c__z__ @elexos___

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Excited to announce that my work has been published in print for the second time in about six months. Just released is WRITING ON RAVING, a compendium of essays from the reading series of the same name organized by Geoff Mak, Zoë Beery, and McKenzie Wark.

My essay, A SAN FRANCISCO RAVEDREAM, is a reflection on my lifelong obsession with electronic music and the 14-ish years I have spent immersed in the Bay Area scene and community.

I wrote this essay over a three-month span in early 2023, after I thought I had given up on both music community and writing for good. (Lockdown was really, really bad for my mental health, in retrospect.) Writing this essay helped me rediscover how much I love both of those things and how much I can never quit either of them, no matter how much I think I’d like to try.

Swipe ➡️ to read a few excerpts of my essay. If you’d like to read the full thing, please purchase the WRITING ON RAVING collection—from a local independent bookstore, if you can!

I dedicate this essay to all my friends, loved ones, collaborators, comrades, and supporters who have worked with me and believed in me and helped me make it as far as I have. I love you all.

Absolutely honored to cater the last monthly @vague.terrain party next Friday @undergroundsf . Big XOXO to @elexos___
, @c__z__, and @yanivderidder for trusting me with it.

Gonna be a dub delight, one that calls for cozy dinner vibes: green curry, poached pork loin (veg available as well), black futsu squash, Chinese eggplant, Tokyo Turnips, mushroom Lao Gan Ma, Phoenix jasmine rice and a @damansarasf Malaysian curry puff.

Hi friends hello! I am writing to invite you to the November edition of Vague Terrain, featuring a live set from Abby Echiverri, a supremely talented cosmic electro-techno artist from NYC—she’s also in LCD Soundsystem, a band you may have heard of—and a DJ set from Bryan Kasenic, whose pioneering event series and record label, The Bunker NY, celebrated 20 years of left-field techno earlier this year.
➡️ If we have spoken in person recently I’ve probably mentioned that Vague Terrain’s monthly series is coming to an end, and this will be our second-to-last installment. I’ll be warming up up the floor on resident DJ duty—and I’d love to see you early so I can share a bunch of weird half-time drum rollers and 90s ambient dub revivalism tracks with you.
↪️ Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the silly pictures I’ve included in a bid to increase engagement. I hope your week is excellent, see you out there *️⃣

Very excited for @allthewildeyes and @mozhyjooon to be under the roof. It has been way too long and they have been missed. This Friday 9/1

Hi friends! There is a Cool Thing coming up next Friday that I want to share with you: two of the Bay Area’s finest DJs, Solar and Mozhgan, are playing B2B open-close at Vague Terrain. It’s the talk of the town—even that “Late Night Guy” is excited about it (third slide)! Jokes aside I am thrilled both of these selectors are finally playing our lil’ party. We’ve been after this for awhile and the timing worked out. Once again, we’re hosting two headliners, no openers, and they’re playing all night long. Come early and see where their journey leads. PS: Presales are on RA if you want to save a few dollars. Hope to see you there.
