The last room of Valentin Rilliet's (@valentinrilliet) solo exhibition "Look at You" holds a series of drawings on Tibetan paper mounted on wood. Their language borrows from 20th-century Chinese comics, but Rilliet freely reimagines it, drawing as much on his own imagination as on his sources. He keeps his references deliberately open. The small formats and proportions of the drawings echo the comic book page.

📅 The exhibition runs through October 17, 2026

This is the last week to visit Valentin Rilliet's (@valentinrilliet) solo exhibition "Look at You" in Zurich!

In Rilliet’s new body of work shown at his solo show “Look at You”, the artist engages with themes of life and death, transcendence, and spirituality, deliberately moving away from realism. Liminal beings, such as ghosts or phantoms, as well as dolls that are assembled from individual parts, populate his works. The exhibition features small-, medium-, and large-scale paintings, together with a selection of works on Tibetan paper mounted on wood.

📅 The exhibition runs through October 17, 2026

📍 Galerie Peter Kilchmann, Zahnradstrasse 21, 8005 Zurich

📸 Today we are excited to share with you more details and installation views of the four new lithographs by artist Valentin Rilliet @valentinrilliet , on view as part of our current exhibition at Edition VFO “Storylines” with Valentin Rilliet, Yoan Mudry, Romane de Watteville, and Jeanne Jacob. @editionvfo

“Ghost of a Dragonfly”, 2026, 56 x 45.70 cm
“Aquamarine”, 2026, 44.3 x 55 cm
“Heist”, 2026, 55,00 x 44,80 cm
and “An Escape in Jade”, 2026, 71.5 x 99 cm

All four lithographs have been produced over the course of almost 9 months at Steindruckerei Wolfensberger @steindruckereiwolfensberger @zurichprintinstitute

The stones used for each work determined its format and framing, while each layer of color required the composition to be recalibrated. Rilliet works much like a filmmaker or writer who returns to characters and situations and gives them new roles. The four sheets thus appear as episodes from a larger mythology glimpsed only in part. (Excerpts from the exhibition text written by Valérie Hashimoto and David Khalat)

Valentin Rilliet currently has a solo exhibition at Galerie Peter Kilchmann in Zurich @galeriepeterkilchmann on view only until 17th of October!

Come by and visit us at Edition VFO @editionvfo
Wed - Fri, from 2 pm - 6 pm
and each Saturday, from 12 pm - 4 pm

Wonderful guided tour and studio visit with @valentinrilliet in his current exhibition @galeriepeterkilchmann — not to be missed when in Zürich, as Valentin boldly introduces us to nearly 5 different painterly experiments that inform his current practice. It’s actually quite rare to see an artist present experiment in such an open and vulnerable way and I’m 💯 there for it! Valentin’s work will be featured in the Kunsthaus chapter of “House of Nisaba: New Stories of Painting” in 2027, so consider this a bit of a teaser. 😎 #valentinrilliet #zurich #houseofnisaba @kunsthauszuerich #kunsthauszurich

Featuring new works by Jeanne Jacob, Yoan Mudry, Valentin Rilliet, and Romane de Watteville. The artists will be in attendance.

@schaan__ @yoan.mudry @valentinrilliet @romanedewatt

The exhibition showcases the current work of young artists from French-speaking Switzerland who, building on figurative painting, develop a strong narrative in their visual language and translate this into printmaking techniques such as lithography, monotype, and screen printing.

The exhibition will be on view from September 26, 2026

A lame post as it’s approaching almost 10 years since I started at the Slade. So here’s a little photo dump to commemorate the best 4 years (almost 5 if you consider the rescheduled degree show). So grateful to have studied here and for all the friendships it gave me. One of the best things art school will give you is your peers ❤️

Freshers’ week

First Slade trip to the Abstract Expressionism show at the Royal Academy

First year Slade secret santa

End of second year with my work 🥴

End of second year school photo

Not taken at the Slade, but rather at the Prado in Madrid. In second year I got to go on the Richard Ford Award where I met Jack. A random photo I have of him from before we were together 😅

Trip to Luxembourg to see the Jutta Koether show

Lunchtime sunbathing, spring/summer of third year

End of third year work 🥴

Beginning of final year, studio space with works in progress

Final year and final first glittoris

Final Slade Christmas party 💔

Noah!!

Potentially the most ICONIC (iykyk) Slade breakdown as sneakily photographed by @pietrooom . @valentinrilliet was given the basement as his degree show space and he entered a three day crisis. It was hilarious and even funnier in hindsight as the degree show was cancelled bcos of covid

Lydia and I taking a painting break (defo cropped my work out of this one lol)

Andrew Stahl ✨

Pietro, Valentin and I using the GTA filter to pretend people came to our rescheduled degree show

Graduation and the cowgirls came out!!!

The best four years with the best people
