⚡ A PIECE OF HARRY POTTER HISTORY YOU MAY NEVER HAVE SEEN BEFORE! 🇯🇵🎮

Before Hogwarts Legacy, before modern Harry Potter gaming became what it is today, there was this…

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone — Japanese Game Boy Color Edition (2001). 🪄

On 1 December 2001, Electronic Arts Square released Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for the Game Boy Color in Japan.

Interestingly, it launched on the very same day the first Harry Potter film opened in Japanese cinemas!

🎮 BUT DID YOU KNOW?

Unlike the PlayStation version, the Game Boy Color adaptation was a role-playing game (RPG).

Players could explore Hogwarts, learn spells, battle enemies and experience Harry’s first year at Hogwarts.

And here’s something even more interesting**, THE COLLECTOR’S DETAIL**

Take a closer look at the yellow sticker on the front of my original Japanese copy.

It advertises a promotional card for the Japanese-language Harry Potter card game!

That’s right — this release connects two incredible parts of early Harry Potter collecting: video games and trading cards.

The image shows my personal copy still sealed, preserving a fascinating piece of Harry Potter’s early gaming history, however inside is reported to be ‘Illegibilus’ japanese promo. One of the early promo cards released alongside the movie-release promos.

⚡ 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗚𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦! 🚂✨

There's something special about finding an original Wizards of the Coast Harry Potter card in a 𝗖𝗚𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟬!

This beauty is Finding the Platform, a stunning rare foil from the 2002 Adventures at Hogwarts set, capturing one of the most iconic moments from both the original book and film. ⚡

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗢𝗧𝗖 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟬 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸. Over 20 years old, with printing imperfections and years of handling making top grades increasingly difficult.

I absolutely love the original illustrated artwork on these early cards, and with Harry Potter collecting gaining serious momentum, I think more collectors are starting to appreciate just how special they are.

𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗢𝗧𝗖. 𝗜𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟬. 🏆

⚡ THE ORIGINAL HARRY POTTER BOOSTER BOX! ⚡

Well, I couldn't resist this one! 😂

I've finally added a factory-sealed 2001 Harry Potter Base Set Booster Box to the collection. 36 untouched packs from the original Wizards of the Coast release!

Why did I have to have it? Because this is the OG Harry Potter TCG set, home to the iconic Harry Potter #8/116 holo, widely regarded as his TCG rookie card.

Now, here's something interesting...

There are just over 200 PSA 9 examples of this Harry Potter card, compared with over 3,000 PSA 9 examples of Michael Jordan's legendary 1986 Fleer rookie, which can sell for around $50,000 in that grade.

I'm not suggesting Harry Potter will reach Jordan prices. They're completely different markets, but it certainly makes you think!

Harry Potter is one of the biggest entertainment franchises on the planet, yet its original trading cards have been overlooked for more than two decades.

Pokémon collectors understand the importance of early Wizards of the Coast products. Sports collectors understand rookie cards. Comic collectors understand first appearances.

Why should Harry Potter be any different?

The market is already flying, but I genuinely believe there's still enormous room for growth. The upcoming HBO series will introduce Harry Potter to a whole new generation, while the original fans are now old enough to have serious collecting budgets.

And when more collectors start researching the history of Harry Potter cards, where are they going to look?

Straight back to the original 2001 Base Set!

For anyone tracking prices and looking for genuine comparisons, I paid £2,500 for this sealed box just over a week ago. Happy to share that, especially with prices moving so quickly as more people recognise what these early cards and sealed products represent.

Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but I think we're watching Harry Potter establish itself as a serious collectibles market, and I believe we're still relatively early.

My prediction? In a few years, collectors will look back at some of today's prices for original Harry Potter material and wish they'd paid more attention.

🇺🇸 Gringotts’ Cart Ride

Today, we’re heading deep beneath Gringotts, the famous wizarding bank!

This Adventure card, from the very first Harry Potter TCG – Base Set in 2001 - 6/116.

It features Harry Potter and Hagrid’s thrilling mine cart ride through the underground tunnels of Gringotts, guided by Griphook, the goblin taking them to the vaults.

An iconic scene from the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, bringing back memories of where the magic all began.

Remember, why did they go down into the vaults?

🌟 Fun fact: This is the FOIL version, graded PSA 9 Mint, featuring beautiful sparkling star effects!

🇬🇧 Hufflepuff Match – Japanese Promo ✨🇯🇵

A beautiful Japanese version of Hufflepuff Match, originally from the Quidditch Cup expansion.

This foil Promo 3 was distributed through the Harry Potter League in March 2002, meaning it wasn’t a regular booster pull.

**HARRY POTTER ARTBOX AUTOGRAPHS ✍️⚡**

A few more additions to the Harry Potter collection.

I've already shown the Michael Gambon Dumbledore, but thought it was time to get a few of the Artbox autos together.

⚡ **Pam Ferris** as Aunt Marge
⚡ **David Bradley** as Argus Filch
⚡ **Dawn French** as The Fat Lady
⚡ **John Hurt** as Ollivander
⚡ **Michael Gambon** as Dumbledore

I'm really enjoying collecting these early Artbox autographs. Genuine signatures from the actors on cards produced during the original Harry Potter film era just makes them feel that little bit more special.

The John Hurt and Michael Gambon are probably my favourites of the five, but it's becoming dangerously tempting to try and build a much bigger run of these! 😂

Which would you pick?
