Dynamic background bokeh transforms a delicate magnolia bloom into a striking artistic focal point.

Using the Lensbaby Twist 60, photographer @vbarnesphotography draws immediate attention to the flower’s soft pink petals while enveloping the frame in a mesmerizing, painterly blur. The subtle vignette and distinct circular motion isolate the center subject with effortless depth and dramatic flair.

Which flora would you shoot first with a selective focus lens like this?

Chasing the Light with @vbarnesphotography
A soft morning glow filters through stained glass, casting a dreamlike haze over a delicate spring bouquet. In this frame, @vbarnesphotography masterfully blends the classic charm of a white ceramic pitcher with the ethereal, painterly quality that only a unique optical touch can provide.

The Magic Behind the Blur

To achieve this signature look, the artist reached for the Lensbaby Double Glass II. By utilizing the lens’s ability to create a sharp “sweet spot” of focus surrounded by a beautiful, increasing blur, the tulips seem to emerge from a watercolor dream. The depth and texture of the glass background are transformed into a soft symphony of lavender and rose tones.

Adding That Extra Sparkle

But the creativity didn’t stop there. By incorporating Lensbaby Omni Wands, @vbarnesphotography introduced subtle light leaks and reflections that dance across the edges of the frame. These wands allow for hands-free, in-camera effects that elevate a simple still life into a piece of fine art.

Focus & Feel: The Double Glass optic provides that vintage, velvety fall-off that keeps the viewer’s eye locked on the vibrant pink petals.

Creative Control: Using Omni Wands ensures that every shot is one-of-a-kind, catching the light in ways that software simply can’t replicate.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or just looking to break out of a creative rut, seeing the world through these lenses opens up a universe of intentional imperfection.
