The highlight of my week was having the opportunity to speak at the University of Virginia Student-Athlete Career Forum. For me, this was a full-circle moment.

More than 20 years ago, I was a small-town Indiana girl sitting in a classroom at UVA wondering if I was really cut out to be there. I was confident in what I could do on the volleyball court. Outside of it? Not so much. Could I compete academically? Would I earn a spot in UVA’s highly competitive undergraduate business program? Could I make the most of these four years to create the life I wanted?

That made the opportunity to spend time with UVA’s student-athletes even more meaningful. These incredibly talented women are thinking not only about what they want to accomplish in their sport, but who they want to become beyond it.

Twenty-plus years later, the self-doubt still shows up sometimes. Maybe the goal isn’t to make it disappear, but to take the next step anyway and surround yourself with people who remind you what’s possible when you can’t see it yourself. What a gift to return to a place that shaped so much of who I am and pour a little of it back into the next generation.

So thankful to @uvavolleyball for having me back in Charlottesville this weekend! 💙🧡

Returning for a second camp made this experience even more special. I learned so much, competed against great athletes, and left with new tools to keep improving.
A huge thank you to @vbcoachwells, @4jakehong, @coach_tilbe, @coachryanwills, @spurloock, and @zoeydood for an incredible weekend of coaching, encouragement, and feedback. I learned so much and appreciate all the time you invested in helping us all improve. It was also very awesome meeting Metro alum @rainellejones1! 😊

Can’t wait to be back in Charlottesville to see the team compete this season. Go Hoos! 🧡💙
