“Painting With Hurricanes”
CalArts Valencia, CA installation & performance

Inspired by ongoing hurricane relief work in Jamaica this installation features paintings made with collaborative assistance from Ithaca High School students, video footage from forthcoming documentary “Draw Back Into The Light” projected on a tarp, an improvised music performance by members of @vcfaedu Music Composition cohort as led by Joshua Lehman and large format prints. Installation prepared with @vcfavisualart cohort members for which I’m MASSIVELY grateful 🤲🏽.

Special thanks to Tonia Magras currently editing the documentary.

These moments from our @vcfamusiccomp Winter residency @calarts … interpreted so beautifully by Haley Hoffer @soul_crafted_journey, a student in our @vcfavisualart program!

What an incredibly intense and inspired 10 days!! More posts about it to come as I begin to catch my breath.

(DM me any time if you’re curious about our gorgeous low-residency MFA/Music Comp program! I can talk a happy blue streak about it! 💙)

No stage. No spectators. Just the work—and you.

Residency ‘’26, Hunger Mountain Live will stage a Happening—a radical form of performance art where everyone in the room becomes part of the piece. Movement, sound, gesture, silence, collaboration—anything goes.

We’re now accepting submissions for the VCFA Jan ‘26 Residency. (Sorry you must be a current student, staff or faculty to perform)

🎭 What we’re seeking:

Five-minute performance pieces that involve some kind of audience participation. Think chanting, stillness, call and response, construction, or shared destruction (👀).

Bring us the weird. The wild. The unexpected.

Submit now. Let’s make it happen(ing).

The past 10 days have been filled with excitement and inspiration. I had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to meet amazing artists, connect with a faculty of practicing artists engaging in their communities, and begin to plan ways to expand my creative practice. Art is always relevant and now is always the time.
