Exhibitions and critique are common educational tools in nearly all art programs. At #vcfavisualart we incorporate a customized version of these tried-and-true tools. Critiques take place in small groups, with the intention of being more conversational, and therefore more informative and constructive. by @vcfavisualart

Exiting grad school means leaving many things behind, but it shouldn’t mean losing your alumnx network, an incredible asset for any practicing artist. ARC Artist Talks offer an interface formed to foster connections between VCFA VA alumnx across decades and cohorts to nourish this network. Join us Thursday, April 24, from 8-10 pm ET to see what it’s all about. All VA students and alumnx are welcome to sit in - use registration link in bio or visit https://calarts.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwkdOiurDoiHNYJuBiZEu9yB1V82Zbhawmi

Meet Joshua Alexander (2025 MC) @jxanderworld and @jxanderart, a featured artist for our final 2025 spring session.

Joshua "JXANDER" Alexander is an interdisciplinary artist, composer, and performing artist known to artfully harness sound and silence into contemplative experiences. With a background in music composition (MFA, Vermont College of Fine Arts), Alexander’s work often uses sound and technology to investigate the materiality of energy. His current interests include emergence, experimental notation systems, narrative structures, physics, and metaphysics.

His installations and audio-visual works have been featured at several Savannah spaces, including Telfair Museum’s Jepson Center, ARTS Southeast, the City of Savannah’s Cultural Arts Center, and Savannah State University’s Kennedy Fine Arts Gallery. Alexander currently serves on the board of Telfair Museum’s Friends of African American Arts and has served on Arts Southeast’s ON::View Artist Residency selection committee. Currently based in Savannah, he enjoys frequenting local beaches with his beautiful wife and 3 lovely children.

Karolyn Greenstreet is a multidisciplinary artist and teacher whose work focuses on building community through humor, collaboration, and engaging in dialogue about creating better possible futures. From painting, drawing, collage, found object art, performance, and video, her work spans many mediums. While she often returns to image and object making from time to time, her recent work has brought her into a more socially engaged realm where the boundaries of art, art spaces, and artistic authorship can be left behind in favor of the co-creation of mutually beneficial relationships and projects.
