Today we had the privilege of attending the Young & Gifted Youth Conference hosted by Project50 of Ventura County in partnership with The Gathering for Justice and Featured Leaders of America.

It was truly inspiring to watch these remarkable young men and women speak with confidence, share their stories, and educate their peers, younger children, and adults. Their passion, courage, and leadership were evident throughout the day, and it was encouraging to see the positive impact they are already making in our community.

We are incredibly thankful to Project50 for creating a platform that celebrates and empowers the Young & Gifted youth of Ventura County. Opportunities like this inspire the next generation to discover their voices, lead with purpose, and make a difference.
A heartfelt thank you to all of the panelists who spoke from the heart and were willing to be vulnerable, courageous, and authentic. Your willingness to share your experiences inspired others to believe in themselves and boldly pursue their dreams.
Our future is bright because of young leaders like these.

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

Deep conversations opened doors for something Ventura County truly needs honest dialogue, accountability, and action. What started as one brave 8-year-old girl speaking up about racism at Rio Del Sol has now sparked larger conversations throughout our community about the realities many students and families face in silence.

This is no longer just about one incident. It’s about creating lasting change in a system many believe has been broken for far too long. Parents, educators, community leaders, and residents are beginning to come together to ask the hard questions and push for real solutions that create safe, respectful, and inclusive environments for every student.

The conversations that happened were only the beginning. We are committed to continuing these discussions with school boards, district leaders, and the community to make sure voices are heard and meaningful change follows.

@vcproject50 held a town hall meeting on Monday, May 18th to address a racist incident at Rio Del Sol.

The meeting allowed parents and community members to voice their concerns about racism in the schools and the districts response to the incident.

Some individuals spoke about their personal experiences with Rio School District and others suggested various solutions.

This is considered to be one of the many steps taken to enact policy change on the response to racism within the district.

This comes about a month after an 8-year-old black student was escorted to school due to the racial harassment she has been experiencing from her classmates.

Last month, the Rio School District board meeting had several speakers voice their concerns about the racial incident.
