“𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐑 𝐃𝐀𝐘” is the lead single from NYC-based lo-fi punk outfit @balaclava_is_a_band’s debut long play effort: 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑬𝒀 𝑮𝑳𝑰𝑻𝑪𝑯 (January 22nd, 2027 via @mothland). Sporting a gnarly production and nifty off-kilter melodic oddities aplenty, the song feels like a sonic scratch-and-sniff tribute to the infamously “untidy” Ridgewood neighborhood.

Le groupe de punk lo-fi new-yorkais @balaclava_is_a_band présente “𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐑 𝐃𝐀𝐘”, un premier extrait de l’album 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑬𝒀 𝑮𝑳𝑰𝑻𝑪𝑯 (22 janvier 2027 via @mothland). Arborant une production hasardeuse et une pléthore d’excentricités mélodiques des plus imprévisibles, la chanson se décline en scratch-and-sniff sonore comme hommage à l’affable et bordélique quartier de Ridgewood.

“𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐒𝐢 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭” is the second single from @yoodoowrong’s fourth full-length, 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒆𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒅’𝒔 𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, scheduled for release on November 6th, 2026 via @mothland. As is often the case with music from the Montréal-based experimental rock outfit, the piece offers subliminal imagery that’s both awe-inspiring and perplexing; its main musical themes and deep counterharmonies hinting at some mysterious tale. In turn, the meditative essay evokes somber feelings of mystical grandeur, with reverb-laden melodic guitars flowing freely atop supple bass VI lines and temperate drum grooves.

“𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐒𝐢 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭” est le deuxième extrait de 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒆𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒅’𝒔 𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, le quatrième long jeu de @yoodoowrong dont la sortie est prévue le 6 novembre 2026 via @mothland. Comme c'est souvent le cas avec la musique de la formation de rock expérimentale montréalaise, la pièce propose une imagerie subliminale à la fois exaltante et perplexe; ses thèmes musicaux lyriques et ses contre-harmonies éthérées laissant entrevoir un récit mystérieux. En retour, cet essai méditatif évoque un certain mysticisme à force de guitares mélodiques toutes en réverbération s'écoulant librement sur les lignes de basse VI souples et les rythmes de batterie tempérés.

@lemongrammm's new 7-inch, 𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎, is a cranky yet uplifting patchwork of songs, each track willy-nelly pulling its corner of the blanket, yet harmoniously sharing that same cover of punk sensibilities and politics. Over a crisp 12m41s, these four stylistically diverse songs eloquently question belief systems, leading to, both hollered existential angst and witty social commentary.

Le nouveau 7 pouces de @lemongrammm, 𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎, est un amalgame grincheux mais grisant, quatre morceaux saugrenus tirant chacun leur coin de la couverture, tout en partageant ce même abri punk voire politique. Au long de 12 minutes et 41 secondes percutantes, ses chansons stylistiquement diverses questionnent avec éloquence le statu quo, oscillant entre angoisse existentielle beuglée et commentaire social à l’esprit fin.

Susan Moss was one of the most memorable personalities in the Montreal music scene who wasn’t up on stage in the spotlight.

She was a fixture at shows as a music photographer, capturing incredible moments during countless concerts and festivals for over two decades.

The tributes flooding social media since her untimely death from cancer last Friday are a testament to the impact of her friendship, mentorship and joie de vivre.

The following slides feature some of those tributes.

“𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐢𝐭” by @televisionoverdose (Brooklyn, NY) is the fourth and final single from their upcoming long-play effort, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒓𝒎 (October 16th, 2026 via @mothland & @getbetterrecords). With a sticky bass line, minimalistic guitar hooks, as well as heavy drums as its foundation, the track explores the disconnect between artistic ambitions and the chaos of modern life. An overall sense of entrapment inspired lyrics about existential numbness resulting from disillusionment. Although it depicts an unabashed reality, the punk & roll song exudes confidence, making for a weirdly uplifting listen.

Avec une ligne de basse qui colle, des accroches de guitare minimalistes et une batterie percutante comme fondation, le morceau explore la déconnexion entre ambitions artistiques et chaos de la vie moderne. Un sentiment d'emprisonnement a inspiré des paroles sur l'engourdissement existentiel résultant de la désillusion. Bien qu'il dépeigne une réalité sans filtre, ce morceau punk & roll exsude une certaine confiance, ce qui le rend étrangement réconfortant.
