September!

Grateful for another very busy month of cooking, recipe testing, hosting and writing. With some time for family thrown in.

So much of what we do is defined by what we show here. Which is frankly, mainly the shiny, happy stuff Loads of menial, stressful, boring and challenging things happen too.

Finding the energy isn't always easy, but these are a few sparks of joy from September. We move into October with positivity!

🥃 A regional food group meeting at Dewars. Much discussion. Several coffees and an insightful chat about their goals. Leaving the shop empty handed was a challenge! *

*not because I'm a rampant shoplifter, but because I like whisky, and they have loads.

📚 Seeing my cookbooks in the wild will never not be utterly thrilling. Spotted in Aberfeldy.

🥪 Cracking sandwich from Ballintaggart Aberfeldy. Yes, I ate it in the car. Like approximately 79% of my meals. #lifeontheroad

🧀 Absolutely cracking autumn ingredients. Recipe coming to my bio in October. 🍂

🍴Supper Club 25/26 Season is underway. As usual a lovely crowd of fellow food lovers enjoyed 5 courses and loads of great chat.

Just 2 tickets left for my November date and then 2026 is a sell out!

All the info in my bio.

✍️ Not one but two articles in the Scots Magazine. Nothing gives me greater joy than sharing stories of Scottish food businesses I love with the wider world. In this case, about 250,000 people across the globe 🤗

❤️ Family time. A lovely 24 hour getaway to One Devonshire in Glasgow and dinner at Ubiquitous Chip.

🥣 Soup Season!

Recipe testing for my DC Thomson column. Full recipes will be in the Courier Menu Mag on Saturday 3rd October, and on my website just after.

⛵️ Timeout at the seaside.

🍅 Another wonderful haul from my favourite farmers.

💪So proud of my 6 year old nephew and his little buddies for raising money for Ronald McDonald House.

An inflatable 5k that finished off some fully grown adults and they smashed it!

🐟 Family supper that I didn't eat in the car. Registered as a win. Recipe on my website.

☕️ My lunch date and host for the Scottish Women's Institute event cookery demo. 🥰

SAVE for your DUNDEE MUST-TRY LIST🍴

ad | Velvet Tide has arrived in Broughty Ferry and we were lucky enough to experience their launch night.

Fresh local seafood, imagínate flavour combinations, gorgeous decor with a beautiful backstory and the loveliest family behind it all 🫶🏻

With other locations such as The Selkie and The Ferry Selkie, Velvet Tide is definitely one to add to your regular list!

Perfect for popping in for a drink in the bar downstairs or treating yourself to the best scallops in Broughty Ferry (still can’t stop thinking about these).

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

New opening in Broughty Ferry ✨ Inspired by Scottish & Irish folklore, with gorgeous, cosy interiors and some of the best small plates.

I tried:
• Scottish asparagus
• Creamy garlic mushrooms
• Potato bravas
• Salt & chilli corn ribs (my favourite!)
• Gochuhang glazed tofu

Drinks: a cheeky Hugo Spritz & Merlot 🍷🍇

They’ve got loads of options for vegetarians, as well as dairy-free and gluten-free diets, so it’s super inclusive 🫶🏼

I was invited to Broughty Ferry’s newest restaurant… and what a night! 🌊✨
From the folklore-inspired cocktails to the incredible small plates, Velvet Tide has brought something completely different to the Ferry. Even as a fussy eater, I was seriously impressed! 🤍 Huge thank you for having me I already can’t wait to go back.
