Velvet Tide is a new restaurant in Broughty Ferry, located in the old Sol y Sombre.

We headed to their launch event to try some of their fabulous cocktails and new menu items.

⭐ Lobster in a Herb Butter
⭐ Hake, Nduja and Butter Beans
⭐ White Crab Crumpets
⭐ Slow Cooked Beef Tacos
⭐ Scallops, Apple Puree and Crisp Pancetta
⭐ Milkbread with Bone Marrow Butter
⭐ White Chocolate Tart Taster
⭐ Chocolate Brownie Taster

First up was their milk bread, which was out of this world! Served with bone marrow butter, trust me when I say it’s a must try.

Then beautifully sweet and soft lobster in a herb butter. My dish of the day was the Hake with an nduja sauce with butter beans, this sauce was incredible, and dipping that milk bread in to soak it all up was unreal.

Next up, we had white crab served on a wee crumpet with mixed-coloured tomatoes. Then fall apart slow cooked beef tacos with pickled pink onion and jalapenos, delicious!

Their scallops are huge, served with apple puree and crispy pancetta. I’d have liked the scalloped a little more caramelised, but still a great dish.

We also got some little tasters of desserts, including this fantastic white chocolate tart encased in a wonderful pastry, and this gooey chocolate brownie taster, topped with fresh raspberry, a winning combo.

And I love what they’ve done with interiors, truly making this their own.

Last night I was invited along to @solysombratapasbar.dundee new rebrand! The Cailleach will be mixing Scottish and Irish food and if last night was anything to go by it’s going to be amazing!

@the_mrs_f_ thank you for inviting me. As always your hospitality is unmatched. I had the most amazing evening making new friends, eating yummy food, watching a magician, meeting local inspirational women and having a wee boogie to @djbillymorris
