These nine artists’ works are my favorites on the theme “Ancient “. The concept of ’ancient‘ feels quite foreign to me, unlike places with rich traces of ancient history, where I live, everything feels postmodern, artificial.

(quite busy over the past two months preparing for a craft fair in Korea(may be), but I still have to follow the creative ideas from the community .)

ANCIENT

Paper is fibre so books can be made up of fibre and binding is often stitched...
I decided to focus on threads as a theme for the monthly nine images, where contributors used stitch in the body of their creative work. There was also weaving with ancient thread and paper and a knitted book...

I always enjoy the stories and research behind every contribution and learn something new and am enriched in some way.

June prompt...CIRCUS

Judging by the submissions we all immediately felt nostalgic, recalling childhood happiness or horror, and then started looking at the surreal layering of what circuses were really all about...

Such a diverse interpretation of the prompt unfolded with each and every book moving me in some way or another. I've tried to illustrate the diversity by highlighting what the challenge means to me.

Le partecipanti hanno sperimentato con viraggi naturali e negativi digitali spingendosi "oltreprussia" e conquistando nuove tonalità cromatiche 🎨

December 2025 was an EXPLOSION of colour.
I had eleventyseven favourites and reexplored many times to get down to my favourite nine...
I decided to make my choosing easier by focusing on light to dark colours but also those that used interesting binding.
Before I mention my favourites I have to draw attention to @janetguertin submission. Besides being full of colour it is a masterpiece of bookbinding. Check out her account and be sure to read the text.

From the gentlest colour to the darkest, offsetting colour

Anche se faccio i ritiri da 9 anni -
questo nelle Marche è stato speciale.
Per la prima volta ho avuto gli alunni che mi hanno conosciuto tramite Instagram; gli alunni che pur non avendo fatto tantissima pratica hanno voluto venire per approfondire, gli alunni che pur avendo fatto tantissima pratica hanno voluto venire a praticare con me.

Mi sono detta più volte:”sei incosciente! Sai che il ritiro richiede l’energia per preparare le lezioni al momento a misura delle persone che non conosci, sai che il bambino non ti mollerà e non avrai tempo per riposarti, sai che devi praticare in mezzo a tutto, dove vai?!!” .
Ma ….. GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE!
Alle dolci colline, alle persone con animo bello e delicato, al mio bambino anguilla, alla mia Marlisa, ai saggi che hanno composto i mantra, al Guruji che ci ha insegnato come praticare!
Sono stati giorni di luce che ha giocato a nascondino con noi e alla fine l’abbiamo trovata!
