Verena Lercher LATENZ Symposium exhibition: October 2. until 17. / Flutgraben – Projektraum Lecture Performance: October 16., 3 pm “Latenz” aims to disrupt the illusion of synchronicity between sound and image in everyday media constructions, shifting attention to the space between event and reaction, where cause and effect merge into new contexts. The digital space of “Latenz” suspends temporal states such as past, present, and future: a vocal event occurs in the now while simultaneously being archived, creating a doubling of reality in which the human body loses its relevance as a point of reference for privacy and agency. Instead, it becomes significant only as a continuous producer of data disintegrating into individual data fragments that are collected and reconnected to generate new meanings. Dialogical, and thus social, relationships are increasingly initiated and mediated through technology, while the permeable membrane of the technical device serves as the interface between offline and online worlds. Verena Lercher’s artistic practice centres on a techno-cognitive engagement with artificial voice-sound phenomena to construct vocal identities as a poetic navigation between the private and public, the human and the technological, the body and the algorithm. Her work has been presented internationally, including at the New York Electronic Music Festival, Kontakte Festival Berlin, steirischer herbst Graz, EXIT-club Glasgow, and the Singapore Art Museum. Research fellowships have also taken her to Tokyo, Bangalore, and Chicago. In 2025, she completed her PhD entitled “Sounding Out Identities of Artificial Voice.” Webpage: www.verenalercher.com lnstagram: @verena_lercher #soundart #klangkunst #berlinart #art #freeentry

“Relational Persistence”, the closing iteration of the concert series Crushed Now – After Turning // Beyond Presence, brings together three unique instrumental configurations: no centre, no front; sound circulates, collides and lingers and keeps going after the gesture has stopped. What persists is not the source but the tension between bodies, machines and space. Boris Eldagsen’s AI-generated videos open a parallel space where presence is simulated, yet never real. Location: Kultursaal Funkhaus Berlin Dates: Sun, 18.10.26 // 6pm   Curated by @gksh_lab and @verena_lercher Funded by @field.notes.berlin_inm   Special thanks to @ambriosound for making the spatial audio mixer available.   More info & tickets → link in bio #spatialsound #electroacoustic #hybridspatiology #concertseries #soundart

New video works will premiere this Sunday 👉 CRUSHED NOW - Relational Persistance" Audio Performances as AI-Generated Videos // Interventions for a 5-Part Concert Series of Spatial Musicology Created as an audiovisual overture for a concert series on Spatial Musicology at @funkhaus_berlin, my work introduces a new artistic workflow. Starting from the conceptual framework of each concert, I produced AI-generated images as personal interpretations of its themes: Negotiations, Temporal Compression, Infrastructural Presence, Vocal Systems, and Relational Persistence. These images were then animated through text prompts describing imagined sound performances, with sound and video generated simultaneously in Seedance 2. The result is an autonomous work that stages an audiovisual performance of something that never actually happened. For the last concert this Sunday, RELATIONAL PERSISTENCE , I created a parallel interpretation of the theme. Featuring performances by @verena_lercher TRSSX_ Meinrad Kneer Gerriet Krishna Sharma @gksh_lab Boris Eldagsen #berlinmusic #berlinartists #videoart #aivideoart #funkhaus

SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION @flutgrabenberlin Oct 16th / Oct 17th - 3 to 6 pm All infos on our website www.dystopia.berlin — We welcome you to the last two days of the Global Dystopia Symposium at Flutgraben on friday oct 16th and saturday oct 17th from 3 to 6 pm. — Parallel to the symposium, the exhibition in the project space shows works by Lílian Campesato & Valéria Bonafé. Verena Lercher, Kamila Metwaly & Jasmina Metwali (with Lorenzo Sandoval) and Frontiers of Solitude. — On friday, Verena Lercher´s lecture-performance will draw on Paolo Virno’s definition of virtuosity as the “activity of the speaker”, capitalised under post-Fordist conditions, to investigate artificial voices that now extend to both human and artificial actors. In the sound lecture performance by the family business for ambient music Paralogues (Tuçe and Korhan Erel) the audience will learn about the term Hylecide, coined by the performers to highlight the problems of deforestation over the centuries. Starting from her birthplace Terlingua, a ghost town in the border of Texas and Mexico, Tiara Roxanne will guide us through a lineage of border town cosmologies, embodied and ecological, that are impacted by digital surveillance technologies and automated extraction. — On saturday, the lecture performance by DJ GIN will explore the meaning of community, collaboration, and club culture through the lens of QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) in London, UK. Stefanie Alisch will speak about her research on the Angolan music and dance culture known as Kuduru in the capital city of Luanda. On the film presentation and talk Dis-inhabit Listening, Lilian Campesato and Valéria Bonafé will speak about the project carried out in the urban reality of Cracolândia (Crackland), in downtown São Paulo, proposing ways to disrupt habitual modes of listening that often disregard non-dominant ways of existence. Concert 05 proceeds from the premise that sound does not merely occupy space but composes it. Two custom-built 3-9-3 3D-audio sound projectors and four ME Geithain RL 900 loudspeakers constitute an advanced loudspeaker environment, forming sculptural sound phenomena that are materially present within the room. @trssx_ presents an analogue synthesiser set spatialised through the Ambrio Mixer (@ambriosound), a singular spatial audio tool conceived for DJ performance, extending an open invitation to listen from within. In ‘BirdL0re’ by @gksh_lab and @meinradkneer, the double bass enters into an exchange with the sound projectors that may be described as hybrid spatiology. Here, instrumental gesture and its spatial projection become mutually constitutive to the point of indistinction. The work then withdraws into a solo, returning attention to the instrument’s own body as a site of resonance. In the foyer, Boris Eldagsen’s AI-generated audio-visual installation carries ‘Beyond Presence’ into the latent spaces of machine learning. About last Friday 02.10.2026 Thank you so much for that Special day! Listening to the Earth, Listening-with the Planet: Field Recordings, Bioacoustics, Sonification The symposium opens by exploring the question of what relevance field recordings, bioacoustics, and the sonification of measurable data from a wide variety of living organisms have for our understanding of the environment, as well as for our actions and our relationships with that environment. For what specific purposes do artists, artistic researchers, or scientists record environmental sounds and noises? What happens during and as a result of these recordings and data processing? What knowledge is generated and made available through this sonic dimension? In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in sound art works that use field recordings of “natural” and urban habitats. In the scientific community as well, bioacoustics is once again coming to the forefront in research on health—particularly that of animals. Both stem, among other things, from an examination of current climate change and its resulting consequences for various ecosystems. What do these recordings or sonified data mean? What do we really hear when we sit or stand next to the recording device wearing headphones, or when we listen to the recordings in their entirety later on elsewhere? What political and ethical tensions arise in the creation and processing of these recordings/ data? #symposium #soundart #artists #science #berlinculture Cathy Lane FRAGMENTS FROM THE FIELD This Performative lecture which considers issues such as aesthetics, ethics, subjectivity and accessibility in field recording through listening to recordings made at different times and places. Dr Cathy Lane is an artist, composer, writer, curator and academic. She works primarily in sound, combining oral history, archival recordings, spoken word and environmental recordings to create non-linear narratives which investigate histories, environments, our collective and individual memories and the forces that shape them. She is inspired by investigating aspects of everyday experience from a feminist perspective. HEARING SOUNDS, HEALING VOICES - Fro

Concert 04 approaches vocal identity not as pre-existing or stable, but as a performative effect. In “Vocal Systems”, this process unfolds through the co-constitution of human and machine, extending voice beyond the human body into networked technical infrastructures. In the foyer, Boris Eldagsen continues this inquiry through an AI-generated audio-visual installation. The work further unsettles the distinction between human expression and technological operation, foregrounding the relational processes through which both subjectivity and technical agency emerge. Concert 04 “Vocal Systems” examines embodiment as a hybrid field, following voice and gesture as they detach from the body and are redistributed across artificial actors and spaces. Instrumentality relocates from body to network; presence becomes distributed and relational.
