“Relational Persistence”, the closing iteration of the concert series Crushed Now – After Turning // Beyond Presence, brings together three unique instrumental configurations: no centre, no front; sound circulates, collides and lingers and keeps going after the gesture has stopped. What persists is not the source but the tension between bodies, machines and space.
Boris Eldagsen’s AI-generated videos open a parallel space where presence is simulated, yet never real.

Concert 05 proceeds from the premise that sound does not merely occupy space but composes it. Two custom-built 3-9-3 3D-audio sound projectors and four ME Geithain RL 900 loudspeakers constitute an advanced loudspeaker environment, forming sculptural sound phenomena that are materially present within the room.

@trssx_ presents an analogue synthesiser set spatialised through the Ambrio Mixer (@ambriosound), a singular spatial audio tool conceived for DJ performance, extending an open invitation to listen from within.

In ‘BirdL0re’ by @gksh_lab and @meinradkneer, the double bass enters into an exchange with the sound projectors that may be described as hybrid spatiology. Here, instrumental gesture and its spatial projection become mutually constitutive to the point of indistinction. The work then withdraws into a solo, returning attention to the instrument’s own body as a site of resonance.

In the foyer, Boris Eldagsen’s AI-generated audio-visual installation carries ‘Beyond Presence’ into the latent spaces of machine learning.

Concert 04 approaches vocal identity not as pre-existing or stable, but as a performative effect. In “Vocal Systems”, this process unfolds through the co-constitution of human and machine, extending voice beyond the human body into networked technical infrastructures.
In the foyer, Boris Eldagsen continues this inquiry through an AI-generated audio-visual installation. The work further unsettles the distinction between human expression and technological operation, foregrounding the relational processes through which both subjectivity and technical agency emerge.

Crushed Now – After Turing // Beyond Presence is halfway through its five-concert exploration of instrumentality as space: a relational field in which human and non-human actors co-shape and increasingly define rhythm, resonance, and attention, in constantly renegotiated (im)balance.

The two remaining evenings extend this inquiry in different directions:
“Vocal Systems” examines embodiment as a hybrid field, following voice and gesture as they detach from the body and are redistributed across systems, spaces, and media.
“Relational Persistence” asks what performance becomes once it is understood not as a bounded event but as a persistent relational condition.

The third edition of Crushed Now-After Turning // Beyond Presence convenes three unique instrumental configurations to create acoustic fields that unfold between the performer’s physical gesture, the resonant architecture of the space, and the somatic presence of the audience.

@reinholdfriedl8 performs on the Neo-Bechstein—an exceedingly rare electro-acoustic piano from the early 1930s that is interlinked with two 3-9-3 3D-audio loudspeaker instruments brought into play by sound artist & composer Gerriet Krishna Sharma.

The 3-9-3 3D-audio loudspeaker uses algorithmic beamforming to project phantom sound sources onto the room’s reflective surfaces.

Concurrently, @francesco.palmieri__ performs on electric guitar via S.T.OOGE—a custom-built tetrahedral loudspeaker prototype that replicates a highly complex, multi-directional physical radiation field of the acoustic body.

The entire concert environment is structurally expanded by an AI-generated audio-visual installation by @boriseldagsen.

In Concert 02 of Crushed Now — After Turing // Beyond Presence the co-presence of human, technology, and traditional instrument — bodies, artifacts, and sounds — encounter, interact, and collide gesturally in dense, complex constellations. Through the intra-action of a violin, a clarinet, electroacoustic spatial sound compositions, and the moving bodies of the performers, space becomes relational, temporal, and collaboratively constructed.

An AI-generated video installation, situated in the foyer, engages with the archetypes of the machine-mind and mirrors the spectral resonance of the human gesture. Both performers and spectators are invited to observe, engage, and inhabit—thereby becoming co-creators of a unique, yet collective listening experience.

Crushed Now // After Turing Beyond Presence is a series of five concerts featuring thirteen artists performing in shifting constellations.
Together, they expand the concept of instrumentality and sound as space. Human–machine exchange becomes a reciprocal, co-creative process that reshapes the socio-cultural architecture of performance.
