When the federal government shutdown and SNAP benefit reductions hit last fall, a lot of families were heading into the holidays already stretched thin.

So @verityseattle opened its Beacon Hill and Auburn branches to everyone, members or not. Families got a $250 gift card, a one-on-one conversation about their finances, and connections to financial coaching and shutdown assistance programs, all in a judgment-free setting.

The result: more than $50,000 in direct relief to 200+ families, toy and food donations for local community partners, and 50+ new member relationships.

That work just earned Verity the 2026 Member Impact Award from @gowestcua. Congratulations to the whole Verity team. This is what people helping people looks like.

As a Board member of Verity Credit Union, I’m incredibly proud to see our new Rainier Valley branch open its doors and deepen Verity’s commitment to meeting communities where they are. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Verity is focused on expanding access to financial services, building pathways to generational wealth, and investing back into the communities we serve—with approximately 87% of deposits supporting local individuals and businesses through lending.

It’s an honor to have a front-row seat as Verity continues turning its mission into action, and I can’t wait to see this branch become part of the fabric of the Rainier Valley community.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Verity Rainier! 💚

From Terminal 5 in our backyard to @flysea Airport, the Port’s work shows up every day in West Seattle. ✈️🚢

The @portofseattle supports more than 205,000 jobs and nearly $39 billion in business activity, while waterfront investments help local employers move goods and reach customers around the world (for example, potatoes are a top export 🥔✨)!

Thank you to Commissioner Ryan Calkins for bringing the State of the Port directly to West Seattle, to DNDA for hosting, and to everyone who filled the room!

See y’all on October 8 for our Candidate Forum! 🇺🇸
