The Surfing Girl was a supplement included in Surfing magazine 30 years ago. Lisa Anderson, Serena Brooke and Rochelle Ballard were the guest editors of this 1997 special edition that featured a snapshot of the past, present and an abbreviated glimpse of the future of women’s competitive surfing. The cover photos clockwise from the upper left are Lisa’s backside snap by Chris Klopf, Frieda Zamba’s floater by Jim Russi and Margo barrel-riding Sunset by Dan Merkel. The trio of guest editors dedicated this publication to Rell Sunn #lisaanderson #serenabrooke #rochelleballard #womenwhosurf #girlscantsurf

Y’all know I LIVE for a 2001 throwback! 😎✨
Did you know BB2’s Krista Stegall was a judge on Miss Teen USA 2001?!
She sat on a panel with Raven-Symoné, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Kerr Smith & Christina Vidal.
And the crown that year went to Miss New York Teen 👑
Hosted by ICONS Mandy Moore & Brian McFayden. Peak early-2000s energy! 💙💁‍♀️
