September was a month filled with meaningful conversations across Colorado!💙

While Suicide Prevention Month may be over, the conversations around mental health, connection, hope, and sucide-prevention continue year-round.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to show up, connect, and share the message that 988 Colorado is always here for everyone.

One of the most important parts of being able to provide veteran support is having a community and team members involved. We have an extensive list of amazing people and organizations, so for today, we wanted to highlight a few of our most recent collaborations.

With the 2026 WARRIOR Pack Trips coming to an end, we wanted to thank everyone who donated in All The Ways for making these Trips happen. This year, we served 10 Veterans and 2 military/Veteran spouses during these Pack Trips, with the ripple effect reaching out to their spouses/partners, their children, and their communities.

We are already planning next year’s WARRIOR Pack Trips, and as stated by Michelle: “We can take as many trips as we have funding for,” so
THANK YOU to our amazing contributors, and stay tuned to learn more about our upcoming events!

V.E.T. Veterans Exploration Therapy

This past Fourth of July, our Founder/Executive Director, Michelle Kaye, celebrated our collaborative partnership with Veterans Exploration Therapy…. Normally, collaborations like this occur on the ground but for this special day, the setting took place in the air, jumping out of a perfectly good airplane! Perhaps this will become an annual tradition…? We are very thankful for our partnership with VET, so stay for future announcements of our offerings together.

We also wanted to shout out Meadowlark Ranch for hosting the first night of our Female Veteran/Spouse WARRIOR Pack Trip, and also for working with us to host our monthly MIBH (Marcus institute for Brain Health) Veteran & First Responder groups!

Additionally, this was our first WARRIOR Pack Trip working with NOLS Three Peaks Ranch, and it was better than we could have ever dreamed of and more! The amazing staff, horses, and beautiful terrain exceeded all of our expectations. This is truly a special collaboration, and we are excited for our future together!

Lastly (for now), we wanted to give a shout-out to Sugarfire Smoke House for their generous donation of dinner for the 2026 Female Veteran and Veteran Spouse WARRIOR Pack Trip. The food was amazing, and we sincerely appreciate this donation.

Last week I was flown out to Oakley, Utah for something I never saw coming: a seat at The Fire Pit for @unitedbynatureorg on YouTube, going head to head with an incredible young man named @nathantan323, a conservationist doing incredible prairie restoration work through the @rootsandshoots program under the @janegoodallinst Foundation. @johaus hosted the show, and she was an absolute blast, sharp, funny, and made everyone feel completely at ease. We came from completely different worlds and probably disagree on plenty. Didn’t matter once we sat down.

The whole thing was filmed at a house you’ll recognize if you watched Season 2 of Yellowstone, and honestly the location was the least impressive part. I met people from Survivor, hunters, a fishing show host, folks working in tech, farmers, conservationists from as far as the UK, wildly different backgrounds and opinions, all in one place. Every single one of them showed up welcoming and genuine, ready to actually talk instead of talk past each other. That’s rare. Huge thank you to Ben Shelton, Joanna Hausmann, and the entire crew, who were nothing but amazing from start to finish. Made lifelong friends in just a couple of days. Beyond honored to have been part of it!

10 Hours. 10 Lives. One Community.

Today I’m changing the purpose of this month’s sled treadmill challenge.

Instead of raising money for my 2027 expeditions, I’ll be spending 10 hours on the sled treadmill to honor the 10 climbers, guides, Sherpas, and mountain workers who lost their lives in the recent Broad Peak avalanche.

Like many in the mountaineering community, @nimsdai inspired me to dream bigger. As a veteran, mountaineer, and leader, his life embodied service long before he stepped into the mountains. His legacy and the legacy of everyone lost deserves to be remembered.

As a Marine Corps veteran, I believe service doesn’t end when we leave the military. Through @veteransadventuregroup , we continue serving by standing with our community when it matters most.

Today, every step on this sled is for them.

All donations from today’s fundraiser will go towards the @nimsdai_foundation Broad Peak Guides’ Family Support Fund, helping the families of the guides and mountain workers affected by this tragedy.

If you can’t make it out today, you can still make a difference by donating directly:

🏔️ Broad Peak Guides’ Family Support Fund
https://gofund.me/adae1812a

I’ll be posting updates throughout the entire 10 hours, so follow along, share this post, and help us spread the word.

For the families.
For the guides.
For the Sherpas.
For the climbers.
For the legacy they leave behind.

Veterans Adventure Group stands with the global mountaineering community.

🏔️🤍

Thank you @trufitathleticclubs @trufit_military for allowing me to use your facility.

All funds donated through Instagram will be donated from our Non Profit to Nimsdai Foundation. When we donated it at the end of the month we will post for verification.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be highlighting the nonprofits and organizations helping us make Summit 2026 happen!

🌄 San Luis Valley Great Outdoors: A coalition dedicated to promoting and enhancing the San Luis Valley's Great Outdoors.

🧗‍♂️ Access Fund: The national advocacy organization leading and inspiring the climbing community toward sustainable access and conservation of the climbing environment.

🥾 Veterans Exploration Therapy: Empowering veterans, service members, and families to explore the wilderness and therapeutic pathways through outdoor recreation.

We're thrilled to have them on board for this monumental mission!

Get excited for our statewide summit by joining us at CMC Basecamp tonight to watch a free community screening of 'A2 14'! 'A2 14' tells the story of Andrew Hamilton and Andrea Sansone’s ambitious quest to climb all 58 of Colorado's peaks over 14,000 feet as quickly as possible. We'll have gear demos, hiking meal samples, and a Q&A panel to end the night. Ticket link in bio and comments!

I was finally able to 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 and not only that, I was able to “Send” a big line again🙏(a clean walk with no falls). Which definitely wasn’t on my bingo card by any means, given my recent health matters
•
This line is something very special because it’s the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐢𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚ñ𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨. This beauty is 400 meters in length and stands close to 335 meters high. It literally felt like I was walking across the Grand Canyon…👀
•
It’s a honor to have had the opportunity to walk this line, and get the FA on my first crossing, as well as to share the send with @da_logster and @proffventure 🫂🩶
•

Given everything that's happened over the past couple of months with my recovery from spinal surgery and going septic (old proxy speedflying accident), I really wasn't sure how I'd feel or how my body would respond once I stepped back on the line
•
Feeling incredibly fortunate and grateful that the stars aligned on this project. It all just happened, and somehow it felt natural to be back❤️
•
Truly another reminder to just 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴!! You never know what's waiting around the next corner

It was a perfectly good plane. But, we still jumped out.

There’s nothing quite like being strapped onto another human who you just met and trusting them with your life… I’m pretty confident that ai can’t replicate this.

@skydiveorangeskies & @vetxtherapy - thank you or the experience of a lifetime!

What a way to spend the 4th of July jumping into Summer and celebrating America’s 250 and Colorado’s 150 with @skydiveorangeskies and @vetxtherapy !

Thank you to my friend Deke @vetxtherapy for inviting me to experience the magic of bringing together vets, families and community to jump away from things that have been holding us back, hit the ground running towards what we want in our lives and feel a high that no substance will ever live up to. I firsthand witnessed the impact and life changing magic of how this experience moved people beyond their limitations and opened up entirely new possibilities for living.

If anyone has been thinking about going skydiving, I cannot recommend @skydiveorangeskies more highly. They are so professional and made every moment of the experience feel safe and comfortable. Trust me when I say that it’s worth every minute of the drive out to Ft. Morgan, Colorado. I can’t wait to go back with more family and friends to do it all over again!

Some healing doesn’t end when the program ends.

On this episode of The Stone Protocol, I sit down with Deke Letson of @vetxtherapy — Veterans Exploration Therapy — to talk about what real long-term support can look like for veterans, service members, and their families.

VET recently crossed its 100th program milestone and is now around 104 programs completed, serving over 1,000 veterans and family members — with about half returning for continued participation.

That matters.

Because a 21-day intensive outpatient program, retreat, or treatment window can be powerful… but life keeps happening afterward. People need more than a finish line. They need community. They need places to return to. They need ongoing support that understands the terrain.

This conversation is about wilderness, therapeutic pathways, brotherhood/sisterhood, family support, and the kind of community that keeps showing up after the formal treatment container ends.

Huge respect to Deke and the @vetxtherapy team for the work they’re doing.

Watch the full episode on YouTube.
