For some of the veterans riding with us last Sunday, this was a first. Out on horseback with the Denver and Jefferson County Veterans Treatment Court, we watched guys settle into the saddle, take in the open country, and just breathe. It's a privilege we never take lightly to work alongside these veterans and be part of their journey!

Getting veterans outdoors is where the magic happens. Wilderness has a way of slowing everything down and opening doors to experiences some of these men and women have never had the chance to try. Huge thanks to the Veterans Treatment Court team for trusting us with their veterans. We're stoked for the next ride!

Join Veterans Exploration Therapy for an extraordinary Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Adventure on Wednesday, November 11th!

We are taking 9 veterans up to 10,000 feet for an inspiring flight over Colorado Springs. It’s an opportunity to find quiet perspective, connect with fellow veterans, and celebrate your service from the sky. We’ll finish the morning with a continental breakfast, a celebratory toast, and official aeronaut flight certificates!

When: Wednesday, November 11, 2026 | 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM
Key Details: All riders must be under 250 lbs. Weather backup date is Friday, Nov 13.

Last weekend, we dropped into canyons that people walked thousands and thousands of years before any of us were born. Our technical canyoneering trip with Colorado Outward Bound School was full of adventure, huge energy, and views that stopped us in our tracks! Every rappel and every narrow squeeze brought the group closer. We came across artifacts left behind by the Native peoples who called these canyons home, and standing in their footsteps put everything into perspective.

We broke barriers out there. Some were physical, some were mental, and all of them were beaten together. This is what we do. We get out, we push, we lean on each other, and we come home with something that can't be taken away. The memory of this weekend is one every single one of us will carry for the rest of our lives. Huge thanks to our partners at @cobs_org for making it happen. We're proud to stand alongside you, and we can't wait for the next one!

We're rolling out something new: a small refundable deposit when you register for a VET trip. Show up, and it's back in your pocket. That's it.

Although the trip is free to you, it is not free to our organization. We work our tails off behind the scenes to raise the money that pays for every seat, every meal, every piece of gear, so veterans and their family members can get out there without paying a dime. When someone doesn't show, that funding doesn't come back. It's gone, and it can't go to the next veteran or family member who needed that spot.

We owe it to our donors and to every veteran and family waiting for a seat to spend that money well. An empty seat is a promise broken to both of them.

And to be clear: your presence matters more to us than any dollar ever will. If this deposit is a barrier for any reason, reach out to us directly. Give us your word you'll be there, and we'll waive it. No questions asked.

Today, we rode with veterans who served this country, many in Iraq and Afghanistan, all of them showing up for something bigger than themselves.

25 years after 9/11, we didn’t spend the day in silence. We spent it flying down a mountain.

Wind in your face. Trees blurring past. Heart pounding, not from fear but from being fully, completely alive.

That’s why VET exists. Because healing doesn’t happen sitting still, it happens when you remember what it feels like to live again.

These men and women gave everything for us. Today we got to give something back: a reason to feel alive.

25 years ago, our nation changed forever. Out of profound tragedy came an extraordinary display of courage, sacrifice, and unity, a legacy carried by the brave men and women who stepped forward to protect us.

At Veterans Exploration Therapy, we carry that promise forward every day. Healing is a journey, but you don't have to walk it alone. Today, we honor the fallen, support the living, and remember the quiet strength found in community and the great outdoors.

United we stand. We will never forget.

Nothing built in this country happens by accident. It’s forged by the sweat, resilience, and unwavering dedication of everyday workers and our armed forces.

As we celebrate Labor Day, we want to say thank you to the people who give their all day in and day out. But remember: the same loyalty and support you pour into your work and your teammates belongs to you, too. Stand proud of what you accomplish, but never hesitate to raise your hand if you need a breather or a helping hand.

We salute the hard-working individuals and service members whose commitment drives our nation forward. Thank you for your continued dedication and service.

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and we need to say something plainly: it’s OK to not be OK.

If something’s going on with you, admitting that out loud is not weakness. It’s the first step, and it’s the hardest one, and we know that because we’ve lived it.

No matter how deep the pit feels right now, you are not stuck there. You can absolutely dig out. There’s a whole community standing here with open arms ready to help you do it, but the door only opens when you decide to walk through it.

If you’re watching someone you love struggle, listen first. Not with fixes, not with advice, just listen with real empathy. Then help them find their way to the people trained to help. That’s how we take care of each other, and that’s how we take care of our veteran community every single day.

Just tell somebody. A friend, a family member, a battle buddy, anyone within reach. It doesn’t have to be the “right” person or the perfect words. It just has to be honest.

And if you don’t know where else to turn, the 988 Colorado Mental Health Lifeline is there too. You are not alone in this.

September 11 marks 25 years since that day changed everything, answering the call for so many of the veterans we serve. This year, Veterans Exploration Therapy is partnering with the National Sports Center for the Disabled to mark that anniversary with strength, speed, and a mountain under their wheels. 🚵‍♂️

We’re bringing a group of disabled veterans to Trestle Bike Park at Winter Park Resort for a full day of guided, lift-accessed downhill mountain biking fully supported from top to bottom.
