Tag the person you would bunk a day of college with, and tell us which of these corners of Delhi holds your love story.

Every love story in this city has an address. A tomb you bunked college for, a ruin you loitered in while waiting for life to begin, a Metro line you stayed on long after your stop.

When @vibeshwar showed me his photographs of Delhi as the movies remember it, I realised he had been collecting the places we all fell in love in. So I wrote about them. Seven films, seven corners of the city, and the versions of ourselves we left behind in each one.

Jatin, thank you for letting me borrow your eye for a while. Go follow him for more of Delhi and Bollywood, one frame at a time.

Delhi gives you a thousand places to fall in love. Which one was yours?

"When I was nine, there were a lot of things I was convinced I absolutely needed. One of them was a baby-blue Disney bag. Unfortunately for me, my mum had 'Lizzie McGuire' (2001) on her side. I remember my mum using an episode to convince me to give up on the Disney bag and stick with the black one. Even more annoyingly, it kind of worked. I look back at that moment because it is such a specifically tween memory. At that age, wanting the right jeans or bag did not feel trivial. 'Lizzie McGuire' understood that. So did so much of the television made for us back then.

We had 'Hannah Montana' (2006), 'Victorious' (2010), and 'The Suite Life of Zack & Cody' (2005), where the characters were roughly our age or just a few steps ahead. They had pimples, embarrassing crushes, and best-friend fallouts that felt like the end of the world. Sometimes the biggest crisis was a zit before picture day or a misunderstanding with your best friend. The clothes were colourful, the problems were small, and the kids were allowed to act like kids.

But cable TV, which once gave kids their own little ecosystem of channels and shows, has steadily lost ground to streaming and social media. There is no channel schedule deciding what is appropriate for an 11-year-old, the algorithm is happy to move you from a beauty tutorial to celebrity gossip to a 'Love Is Blind' edit without asking your age."

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE LONG JOURNEY AHEAD IN MUMBAI✨🫡

Couldn’t tag all the people cz Instagram is not letting me do it, but you guys get the point I’m trying to make right?🥹
