This has to have been one of my favourite travel pieces to write. I loved exploring the Catskills and Adirondacks in New York state and retracing the footsteps of America's original vacationers.

It's online now in the i newspaper's travel section - link in bio

We travelled further north to the Adirondacks and made like latter-day New Yorkers leaving the city in search of the wilderness.

We skied on Old Gore, ogled the old paddlesteamers on Lake George, mooched around tiny towns like North Creek and Bolton Landing and ate a lot of Buffalo Wings. Swell!

I thought the Catskills was a summer place cos, well, you know... Dirty Dancing... But I had the time of my life (sorry) there last week; skiing, snowshoeing, hospitality that was a hybrid of Manhattan cool and mountain chic, beautiful views and excellent company.

You don't need a travel writer to tell you that 1.5 days in New York for a first timer is not enough.

But it was just enough to 'wet' my appetite.

A rainstorm blew in as we landed and a state of emergency was declared on the first night (for flooding).

It was all over by morning so I stomped from Manhattan to Grand Central Station to the High Line to Greenwich Village to the Lower East Side for the Tenement Museum then a speakeasy walking tour and🍺 before 🍔 🍸 and 🛏️❤️

A few weeks ago I travelled on the beautiful Scenic Byway 12 in Utah with a lovely bunch of people.

While staying at Yonder Escalante, in Escalante, I had the chance to watch my first ever film at a drive-in movie theater.

Here's a brief look at that experience.

Grateful to have had a Christmas full of visitors and family💫

10 days on the road, a trip to London to see Wicked, pub catch ups, a few days on the farm with family, cousin meet ups and random walks 🚜🥂

No skiing but hopeful that will come soon⛷️

Thinking of friends and family missing special people in their lives and know how lucky we are to have had a lovely few weeks of Christmas holiday fun ✨

Happy New Year, back to school, work etc! 🎉

Am I taking in the views, or just thinking about how my first travel piece for @mrporterlive was published today? Obviously, it’s the first one, but also incidentally my first travel piece for @mrporterlive has been published today. Link in bio because that’s how these things work you fool.
