Introducing Beatrice Ann Brabin, our little miracle baby. Still cant quite believe she’s here. Among all the posts for breast cancer awareness month I hope someone that needs to see this will find it. Turns out it is possible to have a baby after chemo. Our bodies are amazing and I remain endlessly grateful to be here #checkyourboobs by @vickynormski

“If you’re gonna climb the mountain you gotta ring that bell”

Hoping with every fibre of my being that today was the last of the heavy artillery treatments.

In the last 18 months I’ve had:

3 surgeries (two lumpectomies and a full lymph node clearance)
6 rounds of chemo (the first an overdose)
20 rounds of radiotherapy
18 rounds of targeted biological therapy - herceptin and perjeta or ‘Phesgo’
Over 30 scans (I’ve lost count)
Two dashes to A&E with blood clots and heart function scares
And a load of other scary tedious sh*t you’d never think was ‘a thing.’

My body will be kept in a medical menopause for the next 5 years or until I menopause naturally and I’ll be on endocrine / hormonal treatment for the next 10 years (at least)….

…Oh and there’s further preventative surgery on the cards… but right now - I am ringing that bell!

I am so incredibly grateful I live in a time and place where these treatments are available and - for now - seem to be working.

This is my reality of breast cancer. It’s a shit ride but jees am I happy to be alive!

I will never be able to thank my husband, daughter, amazing friends, family and in-laws enough for the ongoing support. Treatment on the NHS has not been easy during covid but I am grateful for every wonderful person I’ve met and been treated by.

Please please please #checkyourboobs You can sign up for monthly reminders @coppafeelpeople or see @breastcancernow and @macmillancancer for advice. I am still humbled by the amazing work these charities do. by @vickynormski
