9.13 | birthday 🌷

I had such a beautiful birthday this week! 🎂

Thank you to everyone who came to our lil village party by the Hudson, and for all the lovely messages received. I love y’all 💕🌀

This birthday season, I’m excited to share a big milestone. I started teaching screenwriting at the City College of NY / CUNY @ccnycitycollege ! 🍎

Teaching is one of my greatest joys, and I got to do so much this past year with orgs like @projectrowhouses, @artleaguehouston, @browngirlsdocmafia, @htxmade_films, @riverarts, and more.

It’s been a dream of a lifetime to teach filmmaking - and the foundations of an artful life - to college students. I feel blessed to have this opportunity. And with this new position, I am proud to honor the legacy of my grandparents, who were both teachers. 🌿

What a year it’s been. A full summer, on its own. I’m soaking in the last warm rays as much as I can. ☀️

Here’s to another twirl! 💫

Badwater Cape Fear 51 Miler - my seventh time running it and it never gets easier (which is great - who wants an easy Badwater race?!) This year I ran it with my Badwater Salton Sea partner, @victorianegri, from mile 0 to mile 51 - not only was it great practice for BSS but also running and chatting with Victoria made the miles so much more pleasant and go by much faster! We were chatting so much in the beginning that we didn’t even realize how fast we made it through the 12 mile “warmup” around the island. This year the sun was out and it was high tide as soon as we hit the beach (mile 12). Luckily the beach was wider this year so high tide didn’t push us into the soft sugar sand. We enjoyed an awesome first out-and-back from Bald Head Island to Ft. Fisher (miles 12 to 31) then hit a little low on the second way to Ft. Fisher (miles 31 to 41ish). Luckily we were revived by the Ft. Fisher aid station and had a great run back to Bald Head and to the finish line (miles 41ish to 51)! Thank you Victoria for an awesome BCF! @badwaterhq
