Every creative has a habit they know they should break… but haven't 👀

We took Creative Boom Confessions to Birmingham Design Festival (@designfestbrum), and with this year's theme being Change, we had to ask the obvious question: what's the creative habit you keep meaning to quit?

I can’t tell you how special today was. @designfestbrum was an absolute highlight of the 2020s. It was all everyone promised and much more.

Hats off to @luketonge and @danielalcorn for pulling together something so special. It’s a lot of work and effort, and yet they make it look so effortless and professional.

Big love to @vivapica for meeting up and finally letting me troll him to his face. After all these years mate. So special. And to Louise, Daisy, @l4nre, the gorgeous @allflowslive dynamic duo, @nattykiriharris, @victory_over_all, @louishudson, @uuendylau, @carole.chevalier.design, @tomwoolley… and so many more gorgeous people!! A big round of applause to all the authors that published their books in 2024 and that I had a chance to work with!

I designed and helped self-publish 22+ books in 2024!

Fun Fact: 9 of those 22 books published or were created in December, right before the holidays. It wasn’t scheduled that way but it turned out that way.

➡️ 60% of the authors I worked with in 2024 were new authors!

➡️ 40% repeat clients or authors that had not so great prior experiences in the past and came to me for help with the design and the self-publishing of their books.

❤️ Thank you to the amazingly talented illustrators and artists that I got to collaborate with on some of these books.

I am very proud of the diverse portfolio that I was able to produce in 2024 and everyone I worked with.

I love working with authors and helping them with the cover design, interior formatting and especially walking them through the self-publishing process.

There is a lot to the book-making and self-publishing journey, and I am very grateful for every one of my authors to stick to the process to get their books published.

This year’s card features 8 books out of more than 20 books that I designed in 2024.

P.S. We actually had a dusting of snow on Christmas. ❄️ You bet I ran outside to capture that before it was gone an hour later. Haha

🕹️✨ A winter wonderland, Game One style! ❄️ After rebranding the channel with a fresh new identity and toolkit, we were tasked with creating something truly special for the end-of-year festive season. No typical reds, greens, or Santa’s sleigh—just a nostalgic, pixel-perfect tribute to winter magic. 🌨️❄️

For this year’s festive GFX pack, we crafted a unique Super Mario-inspired landscape filled with snowflakes, snowy trees, and power-up boxes. With a nod to nostalgia and a twist of fantasy, the Game One monolith becomes a key feature in this dreamy, snow-topped world. 🌟

The sound design used here is the directors cut not the on aire as we loved this gaming sound version too
