The recent trend of AI platforms trying to make themselves look more human with cute fuzzy mascots got me thinking about the work I'd done for Midnight Machines, where I represented a team of real, breathing, talented humans with robot mascots.

I created these mascots along with the entire visual identity, website, and promotional material for the brand, to help give an approachable and friendly face to this tech-focussed digital agency.

But to get there, I had to take the brand through a complete refresh, scrap the darker vibe and original robot mascot I'd created, and come at the concept of a robot mascot from a different angle.

I created the original low-poly 3D mascot in Blockbench and Blender, and the new team of mascots entirely in Blender. No AI was used at any point of the process of any of this work. These robots are all human ✌️😉

(Oh and I also created the music for Midnight Machines using samples from Slate Digital)

Cursed Relics 2026 - Week 2

“One would think that the striking silhouette carved by her bone corset would be the thing that drew the gaze of all in the ossified court. Or even the heavy shadow of her black feather cloak, with its unnatural shimmer of black. But the thing that had everyone transfixed, was the Runeforged Gauntlet worn on her left hand, and the impossible strength she used to wield it.”

My 2nd entry for Cursed Relics, this time combining the prompts Bone Corset, Black Feather Cloak, and Runeforged Gauntlet.

Go show some love for @cursed.relics and check out all their tagged and shared posts to see all the great entries ⚔️💀✨ by @victory_over_all

A quick glimpse at the cover art, logo design and promo material created for @tyrhas_band and their epic album The Fall of House Procopaeus.

Sean is a good friend of mine and the solo musician behind Tyrhas, an instrumental metal project, and he came to me with a vision for his latest album: A lonely tower in the middle of a forgotten landscape. A mechanical wolf standing guard. Both remnants of a lost civilisation.

I took this and ran with it, creating an illustration from the perspective of someone who has stumbled upon the path to this lost place, and as they approach, an impossibly giant wolf, not born of nature, emerges from the fog.

Being a metal head, I really like to go all in and make the most of these kinds of projects, whenever they come by. If you're looking for a logo or album art for your band, I'd love to chat ✌️

Cursed Relics 2026 - Week 1

“The echo of that sound hung over him like a terrible burden. Questioning whether it was a bad idea to use the Thornblade to split the Lyre of the Last King in two, the disgraced knight consulted the divination bones picked up from the last crypt he’d pillaged. He knew not how they worked, not truly, but hoped that they would offer some kind of reassurance that the curse of the lyre was broken without consequence. And perhaps, the only curse left to deal with was that of his damned blade, the thorns of which would never release his flesh.”

A little change of pace! I've always wanted to take part in the Cursed Relics art challenge, and I've finally gotten around to it. The first week's prompts are Thornblade, Divination Bones, and Lyre of the Last King. I decided to combine the three, write a short passage, then create an illustration based on that.

Go check out @cursed.relics and all the awesome entries ⚔️ 💀 ✨

Brand identity for Pad & Pixel, specialist consultants for video game writing and journalism.

From the moment Brian Crecente, founder of Kotaku and co-founder of Polygon, asked me to create an all-new brand for his company Pad & Pixel, I knew the core of the identity had to reflect the name itself.

I had a blast developing a range of visual metaphors that captured the meaning of name, and we settled on one that was simple but strong.

A simple blue triangle depicts the upturned corner of a writer's pad, and a bright red square depicts a single pixel.

The rest of the visual style builds on this duality, echoing the worlds of video games and journalism, with a typeface combo, a duo of core brand colours, and 2-tone imagery.

Do you work in the video game industry and need a brand that perfectly captures what you do? If so, I'd love to chat ✌️

Confession time. I don't use a sketchbook for my logo design ideas. Is that controversial? Probably not. Will some designers gasp at the thought? Yeah, maybe 😉

I know sketching might seem like such a simple topic, and my statements might be very obvious to some, but there are a lot of designers out there who are being told that they absolutely have to sketch on paper first.

Then there's the slick logo process videos with their fast paced edits, that do the complete opposite, making some designers think that jumping straight into creating the final logo is the way it's done.

In my view though, sketching doesn't have to be done by hand, and jumping straight into the design app is fine, so long as that crucial stage of exploration and iteration isn't skipped entirely.

But, that's just my take on sketching. What's yours?

A little peek behind the curtain of how the brand for KeyXP came to be.

I was brought on board in the early days of KeyXP, early enough to have been the one to coin the name. And being able to take something from a name, right the way through to the complete brand, was awesome.

So what even is KeyXP? Put simply, it's a platform that asks gamers to fill out surveys, and in return, they have a chance of winning a Steam key for a game. From the name, to the verbal identity, to the visuals, it all refers back to what the platform is all about: Unlocking new gaming experiences through keys.

I flippin' love working on projects in the gaming space, so this project was an absolute blast, and I can't wait for the next one!

If you're creating something in the world of video games, and you'd like to build an awesome brand around it, give me a shout ✌️ by @victory_over_all

The 2026 edition of My Famicase Exhibition might be over, but you can check out the full list of awesome fictional Famicom cartridges at:

I keep having to remind myself that I don't have time to turn this into an actual real game... but what do you think? Would a game where you play the mechanic for giant mecha robots be cool?

Go check out my previous Mecha Mech post if you want to see more of the project!

Thanks again to @super_meteor for creating this great art show ❤️ by @victory_over_all

Finally. It's here! The official reveal of the rebrand for Victory Over All, my one-person, human-led design studio.

I've already been using elements of this new brand for the past few months, but I wanted to officially announce it: The all-new Victory Over All is here. This rebrand is a lot more than just a visual overhaul. It is a realignment and a renewed drive. It is a call to the fellow nerds, passionate weirdos and hobby collectors, industry powerhouses, rebellious upstarts and quiet creators. To the people who want to spark joy and earn fans, not just customers.

It still captures who I am, but now it does it with more fun, more heart, and is more personal and deliberate.

The name Victory Over All has been a part of my creative career from the very start. So no more hiding behind the abbreviation VOA. It's a name I'm proud to wear.

The dragon is a very clear nod to my Welsh roots, firmly planted in Cymru. Its biting grip of a flaming sword reflects the drive, guts and determination, an embodiment of the phrase Victory Over All.

The bright colour palette revives the brand and is a tribute to all the fun and colourful things I grew up with, from Gundam to the SNES, to the early colourful days of Warhammer.

The combination of blackletter and sharp sans-serif typography bridges the worlds of history, tech, fantasy and sci-fi that permeate through so much of my work, and this is cemented by esoteric marks that swing between ancient and futuristic.

Victory Over All is here to bring out what makes you *you*, and what you're creating so special. To help you find your sharp edges, to hone them, so you can cut through the noise. To help you connect with your audience. To do it all with heart. by @victory_over_all

I frikkin' love making fonts. Something about the combination of creative expression and technical work really checks all the boxes for me. I've made three commercial fonts so far, and Brenin is my latest (and maybe my favourite!)

Another thing I love? Ancient stuff. Whenever I'm in a museum or ancient building, I can't help but fixate on any medieval lettering I come across.

Combine those two loves together, and you get my dream project.

What kind of creative combo scratches that itch for you?

—

If you want to grab Brenin for yourself, you can purchase it from the Font Shop link in my bio.
