🔥 I'm donating the profits from the sales of these handmade items to both Nicole Mokeme's daughter and to Rise & Shine, a rejuvenation program for Black people in Maine and beyond that Nicole founded several years ago. The mission of Rise and Shine Youth Retreat is to strengthen intergenerational relationships between people and the Earth through outdoor adventures, science, art and wellness retreats.

💧 Nikki loved using essential oils in the body care products that she created and to set the mood with the aroma. Essential oils can be diffused on the black lava beads on these items that I create.

💛 My friendship with Nikki is one that I'll always cherish. She was a sister friend to me and an aunt to my kids. She was family. She IS family.

💫 Creating this fundraiser is just one small thing I can do to spread color and light to all of us who are in deep mourning and to help support her beautiful legacy.

I took a year and put the IG for @isfineartanddesign and @wiar_program on ‘pause’. The reasons should be understandable without explanation. What has inspired me to engage again?
It has come to my attention that an important work is coming to the San Franciso Bay Area. I hope it receives the attention and support it deserves. Also, I’d like to thank my friend Catherine Clark for always inspiring me and for the epic work she does. She is a gift to the creative community. Thank you for keeping SF alive and thinking! 💙💜

‘NIGHT WATCH'
The west coast debut of Shimon Attie’s
Night Watch, a floating media installation that will travel the San
Francisco Bay, will take place
September 17–19, 2021, along the shorelines of San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland, California.

Night Watch is a floating, art installation that combines contemporary LED-technology with an historic mode of water transport,a barge,to create a sophisticated and layered artistic and sculptural work of art.

Night Watch features twelve closeup video portraits of refugees who were granted political asylum in the United States. Displayed on a 20 ft-wide,high-resolution LED-screen, the portraits will travel aboard a slow-moving barge to allow for on-shore public viewing. The silently displayed images largely feature members of international #LGBTQI communities, as well
as unaccompanied minors, who fled tremendous
violence and discrimination in their homelands of Colombia, Honduras, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Nigeria,
Peru, and Russia.
