POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Still reeling over Tuesday’s crazy events judging with @apldeap of @blackeyedpeas at @seafoodcitycanada Scarborough via @weareaplfi thanks to @msgvjopanda after I had jokingly commented that I would enter the Bebot Dance Challenge….
I was gonna pull up anyways and the fact that my involvement became a bigger part of it than I even knew is a testament to alignment and the Universe working its magic!
The fact this all brought the Filipino community together impacted me - real talk - in the spirit of Bebot-ness (it’s a real quantifiable thing 😭).
Bebot is intergenerational - it’s a Pinay strength, unwavering confidence, baddie-tude (omg I just made that up), a kikay(girlie)-ness and resourcefulness. Made me really proud to be Pinay and want to explore how we can make Bebot events a thing 💕✨ (not even kidding).

Not to get long winded! Here’s some pics via @kalamansi.collective and cuts from this great article by frequencynews.ca via @mabuhaycanada.

See y’all at My Debut on Saturday Aug 29 in Scarbs! (tix linked in bio).

Still trying to process this one. 🇵🇭

We grew up listening to The Black Eyed Peas and Bebot. It’s one of those songs that has always felt bigger than just a song. It was Filipino pride, culture and identity being celebrated loudly and unapologetically on a global stage.

Years later, Kalamansi Collective created a special edition Bebot shirt with Apl.de.Ap, @weareaplfi and @seafoodcitycanada .

We’ve worked hard to build Kalamansi Collective, to tell our stories our way, and to create something that makes people take notice of Filipino culture. Moments like this remind us why we started.

The shirt celebrates the words and moments that made Bebot feel like ours, from “Yung kanin, chicken adobo” to the iconic “Filipino, Filipino, Filipino, Filipino.” The brownish-purple colourway is a nod to the line “Pero masaya parin ang kulay” and the celebration of Filipino identity at the heart of the song.

As a Filipino-Canadian brand built on carrying our culture forward, getting to create alongside someone whose music helped put Filipino culture on the global stage is a full-circle moment we will never forget.

From listening to Bebot on repeat to creating a Bebot shirt with Apl.de.Ap.

We dreamed of moments like this. And we’re just getting started. 🇵🇭

A personal thank you to @apldeap, @ianoianoiano and @msgvjopanda for believing in what we’re building and for bringing us into such a special moment.

This one will stay with us for a long time. 💚

A quick trip back to Toronto to celebrate @mabuhay_to and join this year’s Kalamansi Chat panel for an honest, thoughtful, and inspiring conversation about representation and owning your narrative as a Filipino-Canadian.

I left that night feeling even more inspired — by the people in the room, @mayoroliviachow ‘s warm welcome, and the rockstar panelists I had the privilege of sharing the stage with.

Big thanks to @viewsfromkris for creating a space to connect, share my journey, and bring the Filipino community together at Toronto City Hall. And if you haven’t checked out @kalamansi.collective yet, go check them out!
