How does becoming a parent change the way you see the world?

This week on The P.H.Y.S Podcast, I sit down with Michael Colas, @viewsfromthetrap_ a photographer, podcast host, and father from Queens, New York, for a conversation about creativity, storytelling, family, and finding your voice.

Michael shares his journey behind the camera, what inspired him to start podcasting, and how fatherhood has influenced both his creative work and his outlook on life.

We talk about balancing art and family, building meaningful connections through storytelling, and why some of the most powerful lessons in creativity come from everyday life.

This is a conversation about more than photography and podcasting.

It's about purpose, perspective, and the stories that connect us to one another.

Available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and wherever you listen to podcasts.

In this episode of The P.H.Y.S Podcast, I sit down with @viewsfromthetrap_, a photographer, podcast host, and father based in Queens, New York.

Michael’s journey is rooted in storytelling, creativity, and the balance between artistic passion and family life. Through his photography, he captures everyday moments with honesty and depth, documenting the world around him while staying true to his voice as a creator.

Beyond photography, Michael also stepped into podcasting as a way to create meaningful conversations and build connections within the creative community. His platform gives space for stories that matter, highlighting the experiences of artists, creators, and individuals navigating their own journeys.

In this episode we talk about his path as a photographer living and working in Queens, New York, and how the city continues to shape his perspective as both an artist and storyteller. From the streets to personal moments, New York provides an endless canvas for creative expression.

One of the most powerful parts of our conversation centers around fatherhood. Michael shares how becoming a father has changed the way he sees the world and how that perspective influences both his photography and the conversations he chooses to have through podcasting.

We also dive into the realities of balancing creativity, family responsibilities, and the desire to keep building something meaningful through art and storytelling.

At its core, this conversation is about finding your voice, building community, and creating work that reflects who you are both as a creative and as a person.
