#vinylbattlewednesday à la Ghost

Two albums. One unholy battle. And absolutely no valid reason to choose sides… or is there?
Just the right amount of darkness for the Halloween season!

Infestissumam (2013) vs. Impera (2022)

One takes us deeper into Ghost’s sinister, theatrical roots, while the other brings arena-sized hooks, infectious melodies and apocalyptic grandeur. Different eras, different vibes, but the same devilishly good songwriting.

To be honest, there’s no grand plan behind today’s battle. These two just happened to be lying around, and suddenly it felt like the perfect time for some Ghost. Sometimes the best vinyl battles are the ones that simply… possess you 👻

Old-school Ghost or arena-sized Ghost?
Which side are you on?

▪️20 October 1986

Whispering Jack. Whiplash Smile. Liverpool.

Three very different records.
All released on the same day.

Forty years later, John Farnham is still the voice, Billy Idol is still a rebel, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood… well, they apparently went to Liverpool and never quite made it back.

Three albums turning 40 today.

Which one is your favourite — Farnham, Idol or Frankie? And… which one would you sneak into a retirement home disco?

Happy 40th Anniversary!

Heavy metal legends Accept celebrate their 50th anniversary with a truly star-studded album!

Featuring no fewer than 50 guest artists from the world of hard rock and metal, including Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Tobias Forge (Ghost).

Classic riffs are brought back to life through different combinations of singers and musicians.

In short: A nostalgic, star-studded tribute to one of the greatest bands of the German heavy metal scene! 🤘🏻

And the artwork…. 🤩 Wow! 👌🏼🔥

▪️Mimikry
▪️Alla Sover
▪️2016

🖤 Jonas “Heavy” Stentäpp has passed away.

He battled lung cancer for several months, but sadly, he lost the fight. 💔

Absolutely heartbreaking. I never knew Jonas personally, but my impression of him has always been that he was a warm, loving and life-loving person.

Today, I’m playing this record in his memory.

Rest in peace, Jonas “Heavy”. 🙏🏼

Yesterday when I listened to the self titled debut album by Triumph, I came to think of these two - also self titled - debut albums.
So… why not make a battle out it.
After all it’s #vinylbattlewednesday

Two great albums for sure.
But which one of these is your favourite?
Let me know.

▪️ABBA
▪️Arrival
▪️11 October 1976

Together with the previous album, from 1975, this is my favourite ABBA album!
I love all songs on it. No skips.
Fantastic album.
Even the album cover is great. (Btw, The photo is taken just a few hundred meters from where I live)

Arrival was released on this day 50 years ago.

What’s your thoughts on this album?
And what is your fav ABBA album?

Arrival - Happy 50th Anniversary! 🤍

▪️Metalite
▪️Discovery
▪️25 September 2026

Time to spin the new album from Metalite!

I bought it the same day it was released, but I haven’t really had the time to listen to it properly… busy days.

Great album, and the Ice Blue Vinyl looks awesome.

As usual, heavy guitar riffs and synths blended with strong melodies.
The album is mixed by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe). And it is also the first album to feature new drummer, Erik Junttila Johansson.

The year is 2058…

Go go go goo goo goo dols time. Yes we have their first original record for sale even as the expensive and hard to find 20th anniversary A Boy Named Go for sale at my online recordstore Music Non-Stop (see link in BIO). Great band ❤️. Especially their first is real punk rock style.

It’s been a while since I last took part.
But suddenly, here we are.

Today’s challenge is by @vulpes_vinyl
An album cover with at least one hat on it.

Let’s go with this one. Three hats and the Ace of spades… Iconic album cover. Iconic album.

And, in fact, I’m gonna spin some Blues Brothers as well. Just for the fun of it. 😎

Have a great friday and weekend ya’ll.
