Take my hand, hold me close 🤝
.
Flipping to the B-side of Dorothy Moore's I Believe You, as Love Me is the track I prefer on this 45.
I can definitely hear touches of her big hit Misty Blue in there 🙂

I can't control this feeling 🎵
.
The Three Degrees got the full Stock, Aitken and Waterman treatment for their 1985 single The Heaven I Need but it only reached number 42 on the UK chart 📈

Blow the house down 🌬
.
The Keith Cohen house mix of Living In A Box's late '80s hit, with the club dub over on the B-side 🙂

We all fall down like Toy Soldiers 💂‍♂️
.
Who remembers Martika?
She had an international hit with Toy Soldiers, a few more top 20 singles and a follow up album within the space of 3 years. And that was the last I heard of her.
Looking her up, I see she's continued to be involved in the music industry on and off since then, but it never ceases to amaze me how quickly an artist can go from stardom to obscurity in such a short time 🙂

Jack The Groove 🎼
.
One of the records that got a generation of kids (including me) jackin' in the eighties.
Fans of Stuart Price will recognise the flip side track, Jump In Your Dance, as the vocal sample used for Dreamin' on Les Rhythmes Digitales' Darkdancer album 🙂

Somebody better put you back into your place 📥
.
I fancy listening to We Will Rock You but I'm also in the mood for something a little faster.
Not to worry, here's the live fast version on the flip side of Crazy Little Thing Called Love 😍

You see I changed my ways, turned my life around 😇
.
I loved this tune when it first came out, then forgot about it because I didn't hear it anymore.
It came back into my life in the early nineties when I spotted it at a car boot sale and it came home with me along with a bunch of its box mates!
We've remained together ever since 🙂

Paradise Lost and Found 🏞
.
Zed Bias adds a squelchy acid bassline to Jack's lyrical flow, making it quite a dark and moody track.
Of course, Instagram doesn't have that mix so I'll let you listen to the more serene original that's tucked away on the B-side along with the Zed Bias dub 🙂

Keeping my soul and my senses apart ↔️
.
This duet with Marc Almond gave Gene Pitney his first number one record two decades after his version of Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart made the top 5 of the UK chart.
Marc's solo version from The Stars We Are album is on the B-side 🙂

Dance with The Devil 👹
.
Two great tracks from The Project Club.
As much as I like Amnesia, Dance with The Devil is the tune I preferred in my youth and is the one I still go straight to whenever I pull this record out 😈

Bass in yer face 🔊
.
I played both sides of this record to death as a teenager.
I hadn't been as far north as Sheffield and Leeds back then but my bedroom window rattled to the bass 'n bleep of Yorkshire techno.
Watch yer bass bins, I'm tellin' ya 🙂
