Viroid Creative: Jamie Loraine (@lorainejamie); featured in ‘Viroid Magazine: Issue 01’. #𝓥𝓘𝓡𝓞𝓘𝓓

Jamie Loraine is an sketch artist, graphic designer, writer & event producer based in San Fernando Valley, California. Specialising in sketchbook pen drawings, her artworks fuze chaotic collages with soft typography & characters. She expresses her love for life through artistic creation; any and every form that feels true to her.

Jamie was recently comissioned for @campfloggnaw’s ‘POSTed Office’ installation; being one of 6 Los-Angeles-based artists designing a custom CFG carnival postcard for the event. Jamie also works as an event production intern at Slow Jamz (@slowjamz.co), an event space hosting live musicians, DJ sets, art exhibits and more.

how the 1968 Mexico Olympics redefined design. #𝓥𝓘𝓡𝓞𝓘𝓓

The 1968 Mexico City Olympics changed graphic design forever. With a small budget, visionary designers like Pedro Ramírez Vazquez and Lance Wyman created a visual language that was bold, vibrant, and innovative. They didn’t just make a few logos - they designed an entire system that connected with the culture and the people.

They combined geometric Op Art patterns with traditional Mexican designs from the Huichol culture, resulting in a stunning, iconic look. This system helped millions navigate the city and became part of Mexico’s cultural identity. It was more than just visuals, instead a powerful tool for communication.

This legacy goes beyond sports. The dove of peace, originally for the Olympics, became a symbol of protest during student demonstrations. It shows how great design can shape history, inspire change, and leave a lasting impact. Unfortunately amid moments of tragedy such as Tlatelolco massacre, it still shined as a masterclass in design which still inspires creatives to this day.
