Earlier this week, the Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinics was proud to join the Virginia United Coalition, featuring more than 30 organizations from across the Commonwealth committed to helping Virginia residents keep their health coverage and navigate new federal requirements for Medicaid and other assistance programs. “Families already have enough to manage without having to figure out these changes alone,” said Secretary of Health and Human Resources Marvin B. Figueroa. “These partners know their communities and can help people get clear answers and keep the benefits they qualify for. They can also tell us when something isn’t working, so we can fix it.”

Health coverage matters. So does finding someone who can see you. That brought Secretary @virginia.labor and me together at @vahealthcatalyst ’s summit. Helping people get care means helping people build careers providing it, with training they can complete and jobs they can afford to stay in. And oral health has to be part of the conversation. A toothache can follow someone into the classroom, onto the job, and through the night. It isn’t separate from the rest of their health or their life. Grateful to @vicmckenziejr and everyone who brought their experience and ideas to the discussion. We have more work to do together.

Comment “apply” to get a direct message to the application. We are looking for community and non-profit public servants interested in writing a new chapter for the Commonwealth! The Cannabis Equity Reinvestment Board (the Board) is established to directly address the impact of economic disinvestment, violence, and historical overuse of criminal justice responses to community and individual needs by providing resources to support local design and control of community-based responses to such impacts. Must be a Virginia resident.

💪🏽 #TheRVALatinas #HispanicHeritageMonth #OrgulloLatino #LatinoLeadership #UltraRadio

🇭🇳🇺🇸 Hondurans are not just entering rooms of influence. We are LEADING them! Across the United States, Honduran-Americans are breaking barriers, making history, and helping shape the future of our nation. The Honduran-American Association was honored to be invited to a private reception at Virginia’s historic Governor’s Mansion, where Governor Abigail Spanberger recognized the extraordinary leadership and public service of Marvin B. Figueroa, Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources. Marvin’s journey is the embodiment of the Honduran-American dream. From his Garífuna roots in Honduras, to growing up as an immigrant child in the Bronx, to Harvard University, the halls of Capitol Hill, and now the Governor’s Cabinet as the highest-ranking Honduran-American in U.S. political office. His story reminds us that our community’s potential knows no limits. We are no longer simply hoping for a seat at the table. We are helping lead the conversations, shape policies, and open doors for generations to come. 🇭🇳❤️🇺🇸 #HonduranAmerican #OrgulloCatracho #HonduranExcellence #Le

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) will always be home. Returning for the first time as Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources meant a lot to me. I shared our work to improve access to care and the responsibility we have as Latino leaders to turn opportunity into something that reaches beyond ourselves. It was also good to reconnect with friends and meet people beginning their own careers in service. I remember being at that stage and how much it meant when someone made time for me. I want them to go further than we have. Part of our work is making sure they can. Gracias, CHCI. Siempre es bueno volver a casa.
