Book 149 of 2026 📚 2as Marrow by @visha.graves.author
This book was absolutely beautiful and harrowing all in the same breathe. We get Calvera's story and we find out more about who she is and what she does. My heart breaks for her. She's a shell of the person she used to be and she's stuck because the Carnivale never truly let's you go.

I absolutely adored her relationship with Gideon and Jude. That even though she claims she can't love she chose to spend her nights with them each night.

As always ending with one of my favorite quotes/interal monolog from the book:
"He is the memory I can never wash away, and the boys are the fire I use to keep from freezing solid."

A masterpiece is never meant to be shared.

Dario spots Calvera and she joins the Carnivale.
It doesn’t want her to be a contortionist … it wants more. It always wants more. So she dances. It feeds off her and she feeds it back.
Under the black licorice haze of Delirium. She performs her act.
By day she’s the contortionist, by night she’s the Marrowmaker - reshaping and harvesting bodies for the Carnivale’s thirst. A soul-collector, a bone-breaker.
She’s not capable of love.
Atlas is her friend but he sees her has a ghost of the child when they met. He’s silent.
Jude & Gideon they are a distraction for Calvera.
Dario and The Carnivale own Calvera. They test her loyalty.

🎟️ My Review 🎟️

What did I just read and do I want more...heck yes!!! Boundaries will be pushed and when you I really enjoyed this one...probably a little too much!!! Calvera has a way of creating masterpieces from those that enter the Carnivale. It is nice to see other characters sprinkled into each book. I will say this one was more on the spicy side and I am not mad about that. Buckle up because this ride is just taking off.

(Warning: This is NOT a dark romance where everyone lives happily ever after. This is a splatterpunk erotic horror series with scenes that are very heavy. Your mental health matters so please make sure to read the trigger warnings carefully!)

Oh Calvera 😭 my heart broke with Kennedy's story in Exalt but yours? Yours is just as shattering, if not more. She is the Marrowmaker; she beautifully bends and destroys marks for the Carnivale to feed on while simultaneously crushing herself in the process. She longs for more, its too bad Dario and the Carnivale will hold her prisoner until she's no longer useful. I think these lines say it best "Dario calls me his masterpiece, but he forgets I wasn't made in a workshop. I am a demon of the canvas and the marrow." and "They come because the Marrowmaker makes horror look like love." This beautifully tragic story was different from the others so far, but every bit the carnival chaos! Off to read book 4 for tomorrow! Thank you @visha.graves.author for the privilage to be part of your ARC team!

Review: Oh Ive been waiting for Calvera book!!! You hear about her in the first two books and let's just say after this poetic book. Because it is literally like poetic, I feel sad for her. Because all she wants is to leave. I did want to know what happened to Atlas, because the mystery of what happened to him like nas at me. This book was very poetic, very sad, and realistically I still don't like to showmen. But you come to understand Calvera a little more and it's just all around depressing.

🎪 MARROW REVIEW! 🎪
by Visha Graves @visha.graves.author
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What to expect from Colony Carnivale’s Marrow:

They say The Colony Carnivale appears without warning—rolling into forgotten towns under blood-red skies, offering laughter, lights, and salvation for the bored and broken. But beneath the painted tents, hides a different sin, each act a different obsession. Lust. Power. Revenge. Fear. The Carnivale feeds on it all—and so do the souls trapped inside..
The games are rigged, the prizes are cursed, and the performers aren’t quite human. So buy your ticket, brave the insanity, and pray the lights go out after you do. Because once you enter, the show owns you.
Welcome to The Colony Carnivale—where the fun never dies, it just screams louder.Calvera Bloodwright was born to dance.
The Carnivale taught her how to break.

By day, she is a contortionist ballerina, folding herself into elegance for a world that prefers not to look too closely.
By night, beneath the black-licorice haze of Delirium, she becomes the Marrowmaker—an artist who reshapes living bodies, harvesting bone, blood, and soul to feed a sentient Carnivale that breathes, watches, and remembers.

Calvera does not kill for pleasure.
She creates masterpieces.

But the Carnivale is always hungry, and so are the men who orbit her ruin. Jude offers silk and reverence. Gideon offers leather and heat. Both love her with a devotion that rots them from the inside out. Neither can give her what she no longer possesses.

As ghosts from her past claw their way back into the light—and the Showmaster tightens his grip—Calvera must confront the truth she has spent her life avoiding:

She is not broken.
She is hollow.
And she is still performing.

MARROW is a dark, erotic descent into body horror, coercive devotion, and intimacy used as anesthesia. There is no salvation here. Only sincerity. Only sacrifice. Only the beautiful, irreversible damage of a girl shaped into art by something that will never let her go.

Step into the tent.
The Carnivale is waiting for your bones.

ARC Review
The Colony Carnivale #3
Marrow
Author: Visha Graves
Release Date: October 3, 2026
Genre: Horror Carnival
Tropes: Graphic Violence, Monster FMC, Erotic Body Horror, Knife & Blood Play, paranormal, carnival
We are introduced to Calvara – obsession of Judy & Gid – we see another side of them then what we saw in Coax. Visha Graves is in her element returning us to a haunted carnival (IYKYK), this one was less poetic than her normal writing and still as amazing. Her writing is unique in this genre and with this short read it created a great interlude and background story to the carnivale. We see the carnival from its own perspective - a living entity. Calvara - Atlas (we won’t get his story for a while but it has to be interesting) We see Calvara put herself into the art of others. Get ready to meet the Marrowmaker and be prepared for your heart to break.

It is recommended that you read the books in order as characters from previous books appear throughout the series.
Triggers: I don’t have any triggers and I won’t helicopter yours. Always check your triggers and be good to yourself.
I received an ARC for free from the Author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Happy release day!

This was honestly a good cleanser. I enjoyed this. I also enjoyed the short chapters and how well it was written. This does have a horror aspect to it but more of a "you know it's messed up, just not over the top"

This was beautifully written. The spice was tasteful and I love the 3 of them 🖤

Go check it out!
