🥩 Orelle, Colmore Row - Ad | Have you being looking for a new place for Sunday lunch? Well, we think we have found a great place to try right in the city centre. @orellerestaurant You have probably seen and heard a lot about the French cuisine restaurant Orelle but did you know that they serve a three course roast dinner with a view? - When we visited we were greeted on the ground floor of @103colmorerow in Orelle’s café/bar and then taken up to the 24th floor where we walked out to one of the most amazing views of Birmingham city. Wow, just amazing! We were shown to our table and taken through the menu by some very attentive and friendly staff. - The meal started off with a bottle of red and the classic basket of bread with salted butter. Then we got to choose a starters from the three course menu and we went for the Porc (pig’s head croquette) and the Saumon (barbequed loch duart salmon). Both the starters looked and tasted fantastic, the perfect amount for a starter. For our mains we both went for the Surlonge ròie (35 day aged Cumbrian sirloin) with all the trimmings. The beef was cooked perfectly as we asked for and all the veg was tender and sweet. The roast potatoes were fluffy and crispy just as we like. Our desserts came on a trolly. A TROLLY!, how decadent is that. We had the fromage and the chocolat et banana. - The price is £42pp for 2 courses and £48pp for 3 courses. For what you get, the amazing service and the spectacular view of our beloved city £48pp is a great price for 3 courses and is highly recommended. This is the place you go for date night or Mother’s Day or (as we were shown) Sunday lunch. 🐷 Chakanita, Solihull - Another instalment from our lovely tapas style lunch in @tastecollective_solihull This bad boy was from @chakan_eat the street food part of @chakana.restaurant in Moseley. - This is the Suckling Pig Sandwich, it consists of slow roasted pork, sweet potato, spicy red onion salad and rocotto chilli mayo in side the signature purple corn roll. Let me tell you, it tasted phenomenal, so much flavour and sweetness. The sauce with the sweet potato is amazing and the purple roll is fantastic. I highly recommend that you give this dish a go next time you are in Solihull 🥰 - The other dish was a chicken stew, this stew is extremely creamy served with rice. If you like your stew’s and curry’s mild and creamy then you will love the chicken stew. Birmingham’s oldest venue. It was designed by Joseph Hansom and Edward Welch and modelled on a classical temple, hence the columns on the outside. It opened in 1834. Its debut as a rock and pop venue came in the late 1950s and 1960s. Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath and numerous bands and solo artists have appeared there. It closed in 1996 for a make over and refurbishment and re-opened in 2007. @thecanalhouseuk Historically, the area was originally occupied by factories at the height of Birmingham’s industrial period. It was the Old Wharf terminus of the Birmingham Canal, where narrow boats picked up and off-loaded their goods to continue their journey along the extensive waterway network. The area also housed the offices of the Birmingham Canal Navigation company. The interior concept was inspired by the life and work of James Brindley, one of the most notable engineers of the 18th century. After delving into his life and work we divided the build into two chapters; The Engine Room and The Residency. The ground floor designed to represent his workshop and a place where workers would drop by for narrow boat repairs and a much-needed brew. The first floor was designed to represent his living quarters. 🥘 Purnell’s, Cornwall Street - As the launch of @themountpubhenley looms we thought we would show of the Michelin Starred @purnellsrestaurant in Birmingham. - At the end of last year we visited @purnellsrestaurant for an amazing experience in food. We had a whole range of courses from Herefordshire Beef to Scottish Salmon and Fallow Deer to Artisan Cheese. These dishes were beautifully presented and served by fantastically friendly staff. - @purnellsrestaurant has retained their @michelinguide Star for another year, we can only hope that @themountpubhenley gain theirs in the years to come.
