Your first trip to Joshua Tree goes better when someone who lives here hands you the list. Here’s ours. 1️⃣ The park is only half the hiking. Inside, Ryan Mountain, Lost Horse Mine, and Mastodon Peak are the right amount of effort for the view you get. Outside the park, @pioneertownmountainspreserve, @bigmorongo_canyonpreserve and @whitewaterpreserve are quieter and just as good. 49 Palms ends at the base of large palms that you won’t see coming. 2️⃣ Make the reservation. @thecopperroom1957 and @lacopinekitchen in Yucca Valley, @kitcheninthedesert29 in 29 Palms, and the new @nicedream.yv open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Check their days before you go. 3️⃣ Ride a horse. @cascadetrails_jt is minutes from @masomenosbar, so the coffee or cocktail after is already sorted. @knobhillranch guides you into the national park itself. 4️⃣ Meet the @mojaveminidonkeys. Sunrise hike with the herd, or book Burros + Brunch and they come to you. Ask Ashley about her new foundation for wild burros @mojavedonkeyleague 5️⃣ Leave room in the suitcase. @all_roads_studio, @thepitstopyv, @pioneertowngeneralstore @thedustyblueshop, @jttradingpost, and @rootedjoshuatree. GOING WILD WEST! 🤠🎬 Every time we can, we are leaning toward Western movies and desert films! 🌵 But this year, the Wild West literally takes shape at the YVFF with the infamous Gunfighters for Hire, Pioneertown’s legendary Old West reenactment group, coming to kick the dirt and catch the thieves on opening night of the film fest. The local legends will perform twice during the evening, bringing their authentic Western characters and old fashioned shootouts right into the courtyard of the Community Center. They will also walk the red carpet, present a gun safety demonstration, and join us on stage for a community meet and greet.
