Would you dive through an underwater museum? 🤿🏛️🌊

This is MUSAN – the Museum of Underwater Sculpture Ayia Napa, one of the most unique dive sites in Cyprus 🇨🇾

Hidden beneath the Mediterranean Sea is an entire underwater world filled with sculptures, trees, people and incredible structures slowly becoming part of the marine environment.

You descend into crystal-clear water and suddenly the museum starts appearing below you… and from that moment, there’s something to look at in every direction. 👀

The amazing thing about MUSAN is that it’s constantly changing. Marine life gradually settles on the sculptures, fish swim between the installations, and nature slowly takes over the artwork. 🐟🌿

With a depth of approximately 10–12 metres, it’s an amazing place to explore without needing to go extremely deep.

And when the Cyprus sunshine comes through the water from above… the whole place looks unreal. ☀️💙

This is definitely not your normal museum.

No walls.
No queues.
No walking around.

Just put on your scuba gear and swim through it. 😎🤿

Aida freediving world championship @aidafreediving organised by @savvasfreediving @free2dive_ss , starts in a few days and this morning i had the pleasure to be on the official boat to see the training, took some photos and remember the good old times in 2015 and 2021 when i used to be part of the organisation staff.
For the moment im very happy with my self for successful complete some important underwater photography projects in June _July although i haven't announced them here and im looking forward for the next projects.

Amathus port photos part 1.

As an archaeology and sea lover i have to admit it was a great experience to participate on 5 of September at the swimming tour organised by @cy_archaeologists at the site of the ancient harbour of Amathus!!

Offering me but also everyone who has been there the opportunity to explore, in an interactive way, the maritime cultural landscape as well as the unique natural wealth of the area.

Through our journey in the water, we brought together archaeology and marine biodiversity, discovering a world that is literally right beside us, yet one that we rarely have the opportunity to experience in our everyday lives.

Many thanks to the Department of Antiquities, Cyprus and the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research for their excellent collaboration with @cy_archaeologists and for co-organising this special event.
