On my recent visit to Guernsey, ‘The Little Chapel’ hit my radar for all sorts of reasons, mainly because it was made entirely of shells and broken china. I was right to be curious.

At 16ft by 9ft it is a @visitguernsey landmark and is often referred to as the smallest consecrated chapel in the world. You’ll have to read my blog to know if this is true. It will go up when all my IG posts are up.

Either way if you are visiting Guernsey, this little spot should definitely be on your radar.

Fun fact : It is a mini replica of the grotto and Basilica at Lourdes in the French Pyrenees, visited last month by the Pope on his visit to France.

🇬🇬 Let’s talk about the food in Guernsey, because it deserves a little time in the spotlight. / a d

What I loved most was seeing the local story behind the plate. From farms and fishing boats to seaweed along the shoreline and apple orchards, there’s a real connection between the island and what ends up on your table.

And it’s not just about seafood. I ate Italian, Japanese, Chinese and modern dishes, with wonderful local produce shining through. Plenty of reasons to plan your next meal before you’ve finished the last one.

Visiting in shoulder season? Every April and October, @thebigeatguernsey Food Festival celebrates producers and chefs across the island’s restaurants. We got a taste of the sea at The Dax in @thedukeguernsey, sharing the ‘Get Shucked’ coastal platters. Exactly my kind of afternoon.

7 Reasons to visit Guernsey 🇬🇬

Last month I visited this beautiful island for the first time and I wish I’d been able to stay longer than two days.

Here is your teaser ahead of some gorgeous places I want to share with you, that will be essential to have on your radar for a visit - any time of year.

I stayed @ogh_guernsey and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. It’s in a great location, it has valet parking, and my room had beautiful views overlooking the port.

Victor Hugo… Did you know he came to live here to escape Napoleon? I didn’t either, but there is a great story to be told in my Guernsey blog post @victorhugocentre

Catherine Best. Crafting beautiful jewellery in her lighthouse, and yes the roof opens - that was a first for me @catherinebestjewellery hosted a beautiful lunch at the Old Govenors Hotel for @dancingchefnatasha who was there talking about her new book The Apothecary Chef.

Did you know that Guernsey was the only occupied British territory in WWII? There is an extraordiary story told on the island with museums and trails @visitguernsey @visitguernsey.fr

Alledgedly the oldest sacred chapel and it is made entirely of shells. It is absolutely stunning.

A dining experience @vraicrestaurant . The only Michelin star restaurant on the island, and I understand now why people fly in just to eat here at Nathan’s absolutely stunning restaurant.

Bathing Pools - Well who knew this would be the most refreshing way to start the day. Not me… yet I loved every second of the sunrise morning experience.

🎃 It’s pumpkin picking season!

I visited Le Hechet Farm in Guernsey for a little autumn outing.

You can visit until Halloween to find your perfect pumpkin, say hello to the farm animals, hop on a tractor for a photo and browse the farm’s own produce. There’s homemade ice cream to try too - it was sooo creamy!
