Had an amazing day in historic Oyster Bay today with @vman1693 as my guide! Fantastic tour guide and does just like Buck. First stop Bonanza Stand for an amazing hotdog loaded with everything followed by a homemade lemon ice...legit homemade...it had seeds in it! 👍👍🌭🍦 definitely stop by if you are in town...then it was off to an afternoon of hunting history. My latest tool purchase roughly 1880/90’s J. M. Marston opposite side feed band saw. You would cut from this side of the machine. Originally powered by foot or hand crank, this was repowered with an electric motor sometime in the 1940/50’s. The bottom pulleys were replaced with wooden pulleys! Still cuts and works like a charm. If anyone has any info or any way to tell the exact year let me know. Thanks! This is my 1916-1920ish bench jointer possibly made by American Wood Working Machinery Co. and resold as Olney & Warrin. I actually can't find any info on this exact machine anywhere, so if you see this and you do, I'd love to hear about it. This is used to get a flat surface on a board's length to obtain a clean, straight joint between pieces of wood. I use it for the bevels in between the stripes on my flags and flag shields. I love this thing. It's old, heavy, no shield on the drive shaft, no safety guard....so dangerous...you slip it'll take your knuckles off. How cool is that. Thanks to Vinny @vman1693 who was interested in checking this old thing out. Also James' @jraimondi23 dad had this in his shop for 20 years. I think the story is it went from my dad, to my uncle, to his neighbor, back to my dad, to James' dad, back to my dad, then to me. This thing weighs prob 200-300 lbs. it's not going anywhere anytime soon. I built the stand underneath it out of old wood that was lying around. One of the pics show light shining through the wood. The last pic is the old stand that worked for a long time but I wanted a rolling stand. Had to make a hole in the new top I made for the wood chip chute. That was fun, lots of cutting and chisel work. And I hid all the wiring in the top then color coded the switch. There's no way anyone read this whole thing haha
