Quand Amsterdam s’installe à Paris… et que je passe de l’autre côté du décor.

Il y a quelques semaines, j’avais eu la chance de découvrir en avant-première le projet Maison Amsterdam, autour d’un café avec sa créatrice @carolinevanvelze .

Un appartement parisien entièrement pensé autour des différentes marques de ZUIVER GROUP, que je connais et utilise depuis longtemps dans mes projets.

Alors quand elle m’a proposé de participer à l’installation du pop-up, j’ai évidemment accepté.

L’idée : donner un coup de main pour la mise en place, mais aussi apporter mon œil et mon regard de décorateur d’intérieur pour faire vivre les différentes pièces ensemble.

Et c’est justement ce que j’aime dans ce projet : voir les collections sortir du catalogue et prendre vie dans un véritable intérieur. Mélanger les marques, les matières, les époques, les couleurs… et créer des associations qui fonctionnent.

Forcément, quelques coups de cœur se sont confirmés pendant l’installation : la bibliothèque Barbier de @zuiver_ , la table Mush de @dutchbone , les luminaires en nacre, plusieurs pièces @festamsterdam … et surtout le fauteuil Marly, probablement mon coup de cœur mobilier de l’année.

Une très belle expérience, d’autant plus particulière quand on connaît aussi bien l’univers de la marque

TEAM SUMBIOSIS — VALENTIN AVON

As I slowly return to social media after a particularly intense first half of the year, I wanted to start by highlighting someone whose help and commitment have been invaluable during the six months he spent working alongside me.

Valentin Avon @vn_valentin joined Atelier Sumbiosis at the beginning of the year and quickly became involved in many aspects of the studio, from research and experimentation to production and the organisation of the workspace.

A graduate of @designacademyeindhoven in Product / Textile Design, Valentin develops a practice at the intersection of textiles, materials and objects. He notably collaborated with the @textielmuseum in Tilburg, where he developed a hybrid textile-metal material. His project « Symbiosis of Things » was a finalist for the Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize, and in 2025 he won the emerging designers competition organised by Zuiver Interior Group.

During his six months in my studio at @le_jad_fr , Valentin contributed to many projects: the Maison d’Exceptions fair, the development of new tools and processes, the organisation of the studio, the making of new art pieces, as well as the development of the « Objets en devenir » project for Paris Design Week.

His commitment and energy have been particularly precious during this very demanding period for the studio.

A huge thank you, Valentin, for everything we shared, built, tested, solved and sometimes improvised together. Wishing you all the best as you continue developing your own practice, and I’m already looking forward to collaborating again on future projects!

"presque demain" emerges from a desire to explore the near future through the materiality of the present. Playing with the ambiguity carried by "presque" ("almost"), the Intersect collective transforms this uncertainty into a fertile ground for imagination and connection. Inspired by the idea of "Gesamtkunstwerk" ("total art"), the exhibition offers a contemporary reinterpretation through the encounter of practices across the visual arts. Instead of classifying works by discipline or typology, the journey highlights their overlaps and invites a rethinking of existing frameworks. Through these compositions, spaces are shaped by encounters, where each piece speaks on its own while also forming part of a larger ecosystem, weaving shared narratives. Between reverie and fragments of reality, these exchanges give rise to new dialogues.
In response to the labelling and categorisation that still structure today’s artistic landscape, this curatorial approach embraces a more open model. It is not guided by a predefined theme, but rather by the works themselves, which shape the arrangement and design of the space. Each asserting its individuality through the resonances it creates with its environment and the other works. Together, these elements interact on multiple levels, generating a synergy.

Bekendmaking Zuiver Scholarship 2025 👀

Sinds 2017 bieden we jaarlijks, met het Zuiver scholarship, de ruimte aan design talent om een nieuw product voor de collectie te ontwikkelen. Dit jaar hebben we weer méér dan 50 aanmeldingen ontvangen – en de winnaar is bekend: Valentin Avon (@vn_valentin) 🎉

Valentin is een talentvolle Franse ontwerper, net afgestudeerd aan de Design Academy Eindhoven. Hij treedt in de voetsporen van o.a. Simone Smelt (designer Fést) en Pim Smit (winnaar 2024) – wiens product bijna klaar is om onderdeel te worden van de Zuiver collectie. 👏

We kijken ernaar uit om samen met Valentin dit avontuur aan te gaan. Pim heeft ter aftrap alvast het stokje aan Valentin overgedragen en om Valentin alvast wat beter te leren kennen, stelt Caroline hem een aantal vragen. Stay tuned voor meer updates over de producten van Pim & Valentin ✨

Copper Tapestry, Valentin Avon
The association of textile and metal fibers. Symbiosis of Things is a collection exploring the development of a hybrid material that provides the flexibility of textile with the structural qualities of copper and steel. Developed in collaboration with @textielmuseum, the project reappropriates a jacquard machine to weave metal fibers and yarn. The outcome is a tapestry and three structural objects that demonstrate the diverse possibilities of this new material, that is both textile and metal.

Symbiosis of Things explores the fusion of woven textile and metal fibers, balancing flexibility and structure.

In collaboration with TextielLab, Valentin Avon reappropriated a jacquard machine, weaving together scientific curiosity and fiction to develop an innovative hybrid material.

The result? Three sculptural objects and a tapestry, each showcasing the endless possibilities of this textile-metal symbiosis. A dialogue between softness and rigidity, tradition and experimentation.
