Thank you to @anna__petrovna for her critical and meticulous review on @somethingcurated about the evolution of my practice after this year’s study at @rcasculpture . The article delves into how my work, particularly through pieces like “QUANTA” and my character “Jolene,” explores power, alienation, and social norms.

Plus, I’m very excited to announce my upcoming solo show with @nevengallery in late September! Currently working alongside @helennev on a new body of work!

Tomorrow at 56 Conduit street London at 4:30PM — Free admission

During this momentum Adama Keïta and Henrique J. Paris will be engaging in an open and interactive conversation on the crossroads of drawing a curatorial landscape through Stuart Hall’s essays on the foundation of cultural studies ( 1990 - 2000 ) . The speakers will discuss the subtle and dense links between the artist’s body of work and the curator’s thinking in relation to the selected essays for the exhibition “ weaving through sonorities “ .

Adama and Henrique will be discussing ideas surrounding themes of culture , race and representation extracted from Stuart Hall critical essay , and in continuity to this : how the curatorial process becomes a form of translation , translating Hall’s thinking into a visual and materialized experience that encourages different interpretations and reflections.

In continuity of our current educational program on Caribbean sonorities , namely SIANO, we ´re pleased to announce our upcoming group exhibition « Weaving through sonorities » curated by Adama Keïta @keiitadama and Manifested by :

Phoebe Collings - James
Minia Biabiany
Tania Arancia Marie
Candice Zogo
Deanna Nelson - Mckie

📌 Opening Wednesday 10th of April
🕗 From 6:00PM - 9PM

🗓 Exhibition on view from 10 - 27 April 2024
📍V.O Curations : 56 Conduit Street , W1S 2YZ London
🧷 Wednesday to Sunday 11AM to 6PM

Articulated as a discourse on Culture , Power and Representation , this group exhibition explores the landscape of Caribbean cultural phenomena in ( pre ) - modernity whilst approaching Caribbean Sonorities by interiority .

Drawn around Stuart Hall’s experiments on Cultural studies, this atmospheric landscape seeks to understand how cultural artifacts reflect, call out and influence society but also how it can reinforce or challenge existing power structures, ideologies, and social representations .

This encounter of artists-researchers is an open window to discuss the connectivity , disparities and shared experiences of caribbean people whilst exploring at core the concept of sonorities ; bringing essentials questions on : how sonorities can be manifested through artifacts and how can it be discussed in a context of cultural identity ? What can be defined as sonic ? and finally how can we respond to the sonic through materiality ?

Also, thanks to a generous loan from Iniva @iniva_arts [ Institute of International Visual Arts ] , this exhibition will to provide valuable resources for attendees to interact with archival materials from the Stuart Hall Library’s collection.

Public Program :

13.04.2034 - 2:30PM TO 4:30PM : Weaving workshop coming with a listening session of caribbean songs with participating artist Tania Arancia Marie

27.04.2024 - 4:30PM TO 5:30PM : Conversation with curator Adama Keïta and researcher Henrique Paris , together they discuss the act of drawing a curatorial discourse around Stuart Hall ‘s thinking

Abundance opens 27 February - 2 March at @vocurations💥

Exhibiting artist Erin Keogh is based at @ProjectAbility in Glasgow. Erin creates large, expressive and thoughtfully composed paintings. She applies paint to the canvas with her hands, creating patches and lines of bold vivid colours. The colour combinations and strong mark making define her paintings, giving them a strikingly visceral aesthetic.
