RODENTICIDES are INHUMANE, DANGEROUS and INEFFECTIVE

Did you know that Skunks are one of the many species documented to have been poisoned by rodenticides?

Rodenticides are flavoured to make them more attractive to the intended target. By placing them in and around a building, you are actually attracting rodents and other species to the buildling. Rodenticides do not work, this is evidenced by the fact that companies that provide these poisons, remain on contract to do so indefinitely.

Rodents have been observed removing bait from stations and caching it elsewhere putting others at risk of primary ingestion.

WHAT CAN YOU DO INSTEAD OF USING POISONS?
Adopt and maintain these simple and effective rodent proofing measures and NEVER use rodenticides:
*seal-off all entry points.
*remove brush and branches from against the building.
*keep garbage in a sealed container.
*rinse all recyclables.
*do not feed wildlife (including birds) we know that is a tough one for a lot of people but, we all know how messy birds are at feeders which in turn attracts rodents.
*keep your BBQ clean and away from the house.
*do not leave your companion animal’s dishes dirty or outside.
*hire a truly humane company to rodent proof your building. (DM if you would like our help finding one)

🦉✨ Hidden in the pines… and staring straight into my lens! 👀

There’s something magical about locking eyes with a tiny Northern Saw-whet Owl. Those big golden eyes, that fierce little expression, and the way they blend so perfectly into the branches make every encounter unforgettable! 💛

🦉 Did you know?

The Northern Saw-whet Owl is one of North America’s smallest owls, weighing about as much as a deck of playing cards! 🃏

Don’t let that adorable face fool you! These tiny predators are fierce hunters, and because their eyes can’t move in their sockets, they can turn their heads up to 270° to look around!

Tiny owl. BIG personality! ❤️

🌿 Want to help protect these little beauties?

One of the most important things you can do is NEVER use rodenticides (rat poison)!

Owls can suffer secondary poisoning when they eat rodents that have consumed poison. 💔

🚫 Don’t poison their food! Choose wildlife-safe rodent control methods and educate others about the dangers of rat poison.

A poisoned rodent can mean a poisoned owl. 🦉❤️

Let’s protect the little hunters who help keep nature in balance!

What an incredible privilege to spend over an hour and a half observing this gorgeous juvenile Red-tailed Hawk today! ❤️🦅

I watched as it practiced its hunting skills with a pine cone, pouncing on it repeatedly, then it swooped toward a flock of Canada geese wandering nearby, and eventually successfully hunted and ate a squirrel.

Photos to come! 📸 (they will come with a graphic warning)

I have such a deep love and admiration for all birds of prey, but Red-tailed Hawks hold a particularly special place in my heart.

These magnificent raptors have a varied diet that includes squirrels, mice, rats, rabbits, other birds and snakes, to name just a few.

This is just one more reason that I will always advocate against the use of rodenticides (rat and mouse poisons).

When a hawk, owl, fox, coyote or other predator eats a poisoned rodent, it can become poisoned too. These chemicals can cause serious illness, internal bleeding and even death. Our beloved pets, including dogs, are also at risk.

These incredible predators play an important role in maintaining balance in our ecosystems and naturally help control rodent populations.

We should be protecting them, not poisoning the very food they depend on.

Please choose poison-free rodent control methods and help educate your family, friends and neighbours.

Protecting wildlife starts with the choices we make. 🌿❤️

Ruby-crowned Kinglet in the rain. These little cuties never stay still! Best thing about birding in the rain if you ask me….. no humans.

Really digging deep into my self-love era. 🖤

Wrinkles. Scars. Broken and healed hearts. Dirty hands, muddy feet, sweaty hair and tired muscles.

I’m grateful for all of it. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Grateful for a body that moves — because movement is a privilege. For legs that carry me down trails, across fields and wherever the next adventure takes me.

Grateful for trees, water, mountains, wildlife, fresh air and all the wild places that remind me how damn good it is to be here.

I don’t want to spend this chapter worrying about getting older or trying to look younger.

I want to collect wrinkles from laughing, dirt under my nails, miles on my legs, memories in my heart and as much time outside as I can possibly get.

Get outside. Move your body. Get dirty. Take the picture. Love yourself. Love your people. Love this beautiful freaking planet.

We get one go at this. Live it. ❤️

To all my friends feeling the same……. I love you and am with you !!!

A little piece of summer. 🌻

A juvenile Indigo Bunting perched among the sunflowers. No brilliant blue feathers yet, but beautiful in its own way.

Sometimes it’s worth stepping back and letting the whole scene tell the story.

Did you know? 🖤

Black-crowned Night Herons have been observed using a surprisingly clever hunting technique. What is it?

A) Stirring the water with their feet to flush out fish
B) Dropping objects like feathers or twigs onto the water to lure fish closer
C) Diving completely underwater to chase fish

What’s your guess — A, B or C?
