My debut album, 𝓜𝓲𝓭𝓭𝓵𝓮 𝓞𝓯 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓝𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 is out on the 4th August via @content.net.au!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭💘💖💕 3 literal years of pouring my heart into working on this record with my amazing producer brothers, @voidhood and @kuyaneil_ ~ with the last music video of the Taipei series dropping on the day, directed by the stunning @reptilebasement and shot by the phenomenal @joeyknoxy 🤍 Pre-save the album via bandcamp, link in bio and write-up by @twntythreemusic x “With nods to FKA Twigs, Kelela and Arca, 𝓜𝓲𝓭𝓭𝓵𝓮 𝓞𝓯 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓝𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 is a borderless record that fuses experimental electronic music, alternative R&B, avant-garde pop, and traditional Chinese instrumentation. Pushing beyond conventional genre parameters, the record is shaped by Blood Lotus’ interest in the concept of Asia-futurism: a creative framework that reinterprets traditional musical histories through contemporary electronic music, to create new sonic futures. Drawing on her studies of traditional pentatonic scales from musical traditions across Asia (particularly within Sino-linguistic regions) alongside her practice as a guzheng player and intimate vocal delivery, Blood Lotus reimagines these musical systems by translating them into a whole new sonic world, in close collaboration with her producer, @voidhood. A breakup album at heart, 𝓜𝓲𝓭𝓭𝓵𝓮 𝓞𝓯 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓝𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 traces the aftermath of a relationship ending and documents the process of rebuilding identity. Examining the transformative process of loss, memory, and its lasting effects, the album is a force of self-reconstruction. “I always think about the etymology of the word, emotion; how e-motions are a form of (e)nergy in motion,” Blood Lotus shares. “The word ‘emotion’ is derived from the Latin word, emovere, which means ‘to move, move out, and move through’. Perhaps this describes the album perfectly, as it is fundamentally about vulnerability and e(motion) in this way; how our feelings are always in a constantly shifting state of flux, flow, movement, and change.” I LOVE YOU SM 😭❤️

In what might be our craziest music video yet, 𝓘 𝓐𝓼𝓼𝓾𝓶𝓮 is out today, premiering via @mixmag and @rageabc 🏍️🤍🪽 link in bio x We zoomed around in loops through a tunnel with a Taiwanese motorbike gang & sang on stage with the aunties and uncles at an old karaoke bar, as a homage to Wong Kar Wai’s beautiful film, ‘Fallen Angels’ 🥺🫶 my entire heart!! This song was written about the transformative potential of grief ~ how someone might be gone, but the memory of them still remains; leaving traces that linger and later shape who we become. So grateful to share it with you all, thank you for listening, as always 💞 LOVE U!!!!!!!!
