From @counsel.collective: Edition One recognised twenty chiefs. Edition Two builds on that recognizing more than those on top. Forty five people across thirty five organisations who built the reputation of a law firm or a legal company. Chief marketing officers, yes. Also the directors, the senior directors, the vice presidents, and one chief operating officer who came up through brand. Thirty eight years at one firm, library technical services to chief marketing officer. Twenty one years at another, event manager to chief communications officer. A federal courts reporter now running a fifty person team. These careers were never linear, and the recognition systems built around them still assume they were. So this edition is grouped by organisation instead of ranked. Where a firm has depth, the chief and the leader beneath them appear under one header, the same size, on the same page. A growth function is a bench, not a person. Every seat was confirmed against the person’s own record in August. Where a firm page disagreed with that record, the person’s own record won. That check moved nine titles and caught one person who had changed employers entirely. All forty five are named in the comments. Chicago DOES bring the world together. I LOVED me some Detroit, but in 18+ months in the Windy City I’ve seen more visiting pals - legal marketing and otherwise - from around the country and the world than I did in nearly 30 years in Motown. C’est la vie. So good to catch up with dear soul Iwona Kesting who is killing it in her new role as CMBDO at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. We are a tight-knit community, and we genuinely support each other and celebrate our wins. That is so rare and something to be cherished. @vonksss

Still reflecting on this past Wednesday night and feeling incredibly grateful. I had the chance to read an advanced copy of For the Love of the Grind by Sara Hall. @sarahall3, your story couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s honest, vulnerable, and a powerful reminder that growth often happens in the quiet, hard moments when we choose to keep showing up. Your story has truly touched me. It was such an honor to moderate the fireside chat and speak with you—not just about your running career, but about your fears, your family, and the resilience behind your journey. Just two days after running the Boston Marathon, you showed up with humility and heart. That kind of commitment to the process is something I won’t forget. And to @vonksss, @brittmg_ , and @elyse.braner—thank you for sharing your wisdom and leadership. I was truly honored to be among such incredible women who continue to inspire me and so many others in our community. A heartfelt thank you to @run_with_mo for inviting me to be part of this evening and trusting me to help guide such a meaningful conversation. And to everyone who showed up—thank you. Moments like this remind me that the grind looks different for each of us, but none of us have to do it alone. 💛

Last night, I had the honor of repping CCR as part of a panel celebrating @sarahall3’s book launch, For the Love of the Grind. Thank you Sara for sharing your story so openly, @run_with_mo for bringing such an intentional night together, and @lahainamae for the opportunity to share space with such incredible women. What resonated most is how the grind shows up differently for everyone, but somehow takes us somewhere universal? It strips things back. Shows you parts of yourself you weren’t sure about. Tests the edges of what you thought you could handle and somewhere in the middle of that discomfort, you find out. Maybe “buoy by buoy” is the simplest version of it. You don’t have to see the whole course, just what it takes to get to the next one. That’s the heartbeat of CCR — a community built on people who already carry the grind at their core, just finding new places to take it. Rooted in DC. Built together. Last night I got to meet @sarahall3, one of my longtime idols and QUEENS of distance running!! She was kind and funny and thoughtful in her responses talking about her life, career, and new book: For the Love of the Grind I was a bit starstruck, but you were so gracious, Sara. Thank you for stopping in DC a mere 48 hours after running The Boston Marathon! Thank you for your advice to not let fear stop us from taking the leap! 🩷 The all-women panel talking about their own tips and lessons learned while juggling life and goals (fitness and otherwise) was equally inspiring. Taking it “buoy to buoy” may have become my life motto, thank you for sharing your IM story, @brittmg_! 🛟

As a middle child sandwiched between two incredible humans, I used to wrestle with belonging, always feeling kind of lost because I wasn’t that, I was this. But I’ve come to love that in-between space. It’s where I’ve learned how to build bridges. That’s the heart of CCR and District Pulse: creating room for every perspective to be seen, heard, and celebrated. A chance to do something in a new way and learn from someone else’s pov. My favorite art project to date, District Pulse combined all the things I love. Curating the speakers, panels, the look of the flyers, vendors, totes, activations, sweet treats, every little detail set my soul on fire. I’m forever grateful to this community for making space for me to do what I love most. To everyone who signs up for my ideas with little framework to work from, it’s the biggest gift I don’t know if I could ever repay. Megan, @elyse.braner , @altrarunning and @runpacers , how fulfilling it was to work with you - thank you a million for trusting and seeing my vision.
