Last night at Dum Dum @dumdum_athens we had “DARE!”and it was such a vibe ✨

2024 has been a year when we got to test the sheer possibility of @thecollectivepurr . As 2023 was the year we got to test the possibility of @outragedbypleasure. And 2022 the one of The forest’s riddle. We got to test the possibility of a decentralized cutting edge and yet open and accessible to all municipal arthood. We were free to talk about the genocide of the Palestinian people, the revolutionary force of Surrealism, the purr of life, the roar of violence, the breath of animal friends and extremophiles, the resistance of fireflies and wayward lives. I am deeply grateful to all artists and collaborators. May we always confound the wise. May we always question authority and challenge ourselves. May next year be the one when the exo-para-institutional creativity be nurtured and supported as it deserves. Because the world survives thanks to the rebellious, anarchic, reckless ones. Because everything must change.

“Every proton and neutron in every atom from the tip of your toes to the top of your head is shifting, shuttling, and vibrating in a collective purr within which the entire history of the universe is implicated.”
Taking its cue from astrophysicist Adam Frank’s nickname for this outstanding discovery, “the collective purr” is an exhibition and public program that actively reflects on the more-than human existence, its hums and vibes, its contradictions, overlapping emanations and unpredictable twists. The background noise of existence has recently been more of a roar than a purr, the death rattle of war, the wheeze of agony, the swoosh of fleeing, the beat of fear, the wail of pain, the blare of social media, the scream of authoritarianism, the drowning sound of angry compliance. the exhibition partakes of “an improvisation with the terms of social existence” (as per Saidiya Hartman) and how this sociality may be expanded, troubled, quantumized. In other words, if every purr, every hum, every song is really the same song, then the infinite variety of the ways the song is crooned is a matter of life and freedom. Participating artists:
