We left last Friday's @womenrising.live Summit at @hulalakeside feeling inspired, energized, and grateful. It was a joy to spend the day alongside so many thoughtful women who are leading, creating, and strengthening our communities in countless ways. A special congratulations to our very own Martha Trombley Oakes for sharing such an honest and thoughtful conversation on The Art of Not Doing It All. Her message about making space for what matters most left us with plenty to think about. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! It was a great reminder that when women come together to support, encourage, and learn from one another, our communities are stronger because of it. 🌸

Last week the @vtwomensfund held their Annual Celebration at the UVM Davis Center. The evening was a celebration of community, resilience, and the power of investing in women and girls. As a recipient of support from the Vermont Women’s Fund for several years, we were so excited to be included in this year’s annual celebrations! After some words of gratitude and reflection from our Director Elizabeth Frascoia, we were incredibly honored to have recent GIV alumna Mona Ahmad take the stage to represent GIV. Mona shared her story of coming of age and overcoming adversity in Syria, Turkey, and eventually the United States. Her words brought us to tears, especially as she ended her story with the power of community, friendship, and belonging that she found at GIV. Mona was supported by a whole group of fellow GIV alumni who came to cheer her on and join in the event, and we are so grateful they could join us to support Mona! Being a part of Mona’s journey was inspiring and deeply meaningful, and hearing Mona share her story on stage in front of so many community leaders and powerful women brought joy to our hearts. The evening culminated in an incredible keynote from Shabana Basij-Rasikh, co-founder and president of the School of Leadership in Afghanistan, uniting the room in gratitude, hope, and determination to protect our women and girls and to uplift each other in our local, national, and global communities. Thank you, Mona, for sharing your story, and thank you to the Vermont Women’s Fund for the support now and forever. #vermontwomensfund #vtwomen #governorsinstitutesofvermont #givbound2026

We are building a record that cannot be easily dismissed. That takes rigor, care, and resources. If we rush this work, we get it wrong. If we do not fund it, we cannot do it at all. Women Rising Summit is about creating a space where you don’t have to perform, prove, or polish “your pitch” before you walk through the door. Come as you are—confident or uncertain, energized or exhausted, clear on what’s next or still figuring it out. There is room for all of it here. Join us on October 16th from 8-5, plus an afterparty from 5-7pm!! This work is time-bound, but its impact is not. We need support now to ensure the final report is as strong as it needs to be. The risk is not just forgetting. It is rewriting. We are working to ensure the record reflects lived experience, not just dominant narratives.
