You do not need to be an expert or have a finished idea to come to CityCamp. You just need to be ready to listen, share, and work with others.

Tickets at citycampphilly.org

Join a community of neighbors, public servants, technologists, and other engaged Philadelphians, for an event where who shows up decides what gets talked about.

CityCamp Philly is a participant-led unconference centered on one question: How can we make daily life better for the people of Philadelphia? Unlike a traditional conference, there will be no fixed sessions planned in advance. Instead, the people who attend will shape the conversations and activities throughout the day.

Sessions can focus on many different ideas, needs, or challenges. They might explore art, healthcare, democracy, public spaces, emergency planning, or something else. The key is that each session should focus on improving daily life for people in Philadelphia.

Examples could be:

Ants and Parks: Educating Philly about Public Park Ecosystems
How Can OpenDataPhilly Help SEPTA?
Building a Multiracial, Intergenerational Community Arts Space: Challenges and Tools
Weird Philly Pop Up Micro-Museum Ideas: A Brainstorm!
CityCamp Philly is meant to lead to collaboration and action. Sessions will not be formal presentations. They will give people a chance to share ideas, meet possible partners, work through a challenge, or begin building and testing an idea together.

The day is still being planned, but it will look something like this:

Share ideas: People suggest an idea, question, or challenge they want to work on.
Build the schedule: The group discusses and votes on those ideas to create the day’s sessions.
Choose a session: People join the sessions that interest them most.
Work together: Each group works toward an idea, collaboration, or next step.
Vote with your feet: People can join a different session at any time.

Open space: throughout the day there is always a room/s dedicated for unplanned conversations that anyone can use.

The Chicago vs Philly Clean-Off has ended, and we made a huge impact!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽Chicago won by only 4 bags, but we both reached new heights as organizations. We collectively removed 1,850 bags of litter from our two cities in only one month!!! That’s nearly 7 tons of trash, a huge personal best for both of us. We reached a new audience and built community by bringing people together over a desire to make their communities better- 987 volunteers in total! We also united community groups, bringing 25 different organizations into the competition, who together hosted 59 different group cleanup events. Well done to everyone who participated!!

And of course we could not wrap up without thanking our sponsors, @312recycle and @seedandstrainco for their support on the Chicago side! Thanks also to our partners, Garbage Gals, Bridgeport Environmentalists, Urban Rivers, LoveBlue Chicago, Friends of the Chicago River, Litter Caterpillars, Chicago Cares, Really Rich Cares, Liquid Death, Volunteering Untapped Philly, Climate Action Philly, Together International, Ants on a Log, City of Philadelphia CLIP, RECLAIM Philadelphia, 9th and Poplar, Lemon Hill Neighbors, Glitter, Park to Broad, Philabag, and Pennsylvania Career Link!
