Man what a run. It’s truly a blessing that I got the opportunity to come back to LE and hoop with my brothers and get the job done. Every practice, every bus ride, every tough moment led to this, and it honestly still feels surreal saying I’m a State Champion now, forever etched in history with this team. I’m grateful for every single one of my teammates because we all bought in and made something special happen together. I want to give all the glory to God, and a huge thank you to my Mom & my family, coaches, and mentors who believed in me, kept pushing me, and never let me quit when things got tough. This moment means everything, but I know this isn’t the end of my story, it’s just the start of a new chapter and there’s a lot more work ahead. Forever grateful for this journey and the memories we made. 11 out ✌🏽#explore #ᴀɢᴛɢ #statechamps

Recently, my daughter asked how many gyms I’ve been in over my career. I paused and replied, “I HAVE NO IDEA,” but I’m sure it’s over 500! This question got me reflecting on how the gym became my sanctuary, a place where I feel most at home.

I never imagined that a bustling gym filled with bouncing balls, whistles, and screaming parents would become my second home and my de facto office. Here, I’ve watched incredible teenagers like @brandonjennings, @renardo_sidneyjr, @Isaiahthomas, @gregdoen, @johnwall, @big_hank1023, @thereal_rios, @Juicemayo3, and many more grow into cultural icons!

When I truly reflect, the appreciation I feel has little to do with the game itself. As a player, I never won a state championship, never made a game-winner, or even dunked in a game (only once in warmups). Yet, the relationships and trust from families who allowed me to help develop their kids through basketball are what I cherish the most.

Thanks to the early pioneers who supported me during my coaching journey: @mickey_hope, @_EHouse50, Ben Elliott, @julesmilstead, @rayhyoung3, @90Reasons, @Ceo_Jacques, @Mfahey1979, @Acasares510, @jonskye11 (Jon Gordon), @Becoming_Full_Circle (David Bell), Jason McGlaston, and others!

Today marks over a year since I launched @chrisriversrapp, which has become my personal ministry to give back to the game. My goal was to help competitive athletes and their mentors have a healthier journey in sports on and off the court by sharing my experiences, both good and bad. It has evolved into so much more as I guide young hoopers of all ages and levels.

If you made it to the end, I appreciate your support! Drop a DM with your address and size for a chance to receive a #OnePercentBetter tee for the New Year (limited quantities).

Happy Holidays, Coach Rivers
